Restoration Stone ale house
Good luck to the lad taking it on,New Springer born and bred I'm told.
Good to see such an old building steeped in history being restored! It must be a relief for the residents in the area as well who were concerned about safety issues. I think it stands like a beacon in its position whenever I pass that way! Good picture it will be nice to see when finished as well.
The Colliers, has been my local for over 30 years and I was sad to see it close a few weeks ago. The new landlord and landlady are making a good job of the refurbishment and it will be opened for business again in the near future . During the alterations the original back door was uncovered, this will be put on display along with the wattle and daub. The original date stone (1700 )has been restored taking layers of paint and grime . I'm looking forward to my first pint ,on the opening night !!
Stone Ale House!
Hope all goes well.
Used to go in every Sunday night in the late 50s early 60s, good 'mugs' concerts then, or Karaoke as they call it these days.
always been deemed a miserable pub, frequented by neighbours only - probably due to the 3 space car park; never had a darts & doms or pool team because they don't like outsiders - White Lion further down is a much better pub and the food now served at the nearby Crown is well worth a visit
Have one for me, Tom....Cheers! x.
New Spring Neil, your good at advertising OTHER PUBS.
I always thought this pub was closed down years ago, until I saw the door open as I rode past on my bike last year, so I went in and had a drink and took some historical photos of the inside which I put on YouTube.

New Springs Neil if you think the White Lion is a better pub it's obvious all the effing and jeffing doesn't bother you but it's not to everybody's taste
