How long before the public are banned from this area ?

Comment by: Helen of Troy on 23rd September 2016 at 07:51

Why would you put a fountain by a front entrance....but perhaps its not an entrance any more ?

This lovely building seen by all true wiganers, is in need of restoring, by that, not only the interior, but the brick/stone work outside needs shotblasting to bring the building back to life.
nice one Harry.

yes that fountain seems to be in an odd place because cars can't dive up to the door

Comment by: Db on 23rd September 2016 at 09:46

It won't be long til they try and ban people from here, coming up with the usual made up laws like private property and all that rubbish, just another excuse to stop people from doing what's normal in a public place that's likely paid by us taxpayers. Dont fall for this "you can't film here" rubbish, it's a public place not private but they like to try it on. And don't forget that domed CCTV camera that's disguised as a lamppost, they are all over the place. It's about time we stop this surveillance madness.

Has the fountain been taken from somewhere else in the grounds?.. It's not in a very good place. I think it would look better near or in the fish pond!

Comment by: Alan H on 23rd September 2016 at 11:44

The fountain looks like the one that was in the fishpond.

Db if your doing nothing wrong...well there's nowt worry about..is there!

Comment by: Harry C. on 23rd September 2016 at 14:22

You are right Garry, but as I said lots yet to do, new windows maybe,
I heard that the Hall is being advertised as a hotel in Lancashire Life magazine for next year already, how true I don't know.
Kath, I think guests for the Hotel would drive up the main driveway which now enters the Plantations at Mopin Lodge.

Well said Db, We are being shaped by others, directed to pathways, decided by committees, And., worse, watched as we do so. Fair point Garry but at what point does it stop? Albert,s police bobbies were ground level, now it's above. To me Db raises a fair point
thanks Harry for your picture.

Dont think the plastic plant pots are in keeping with such a grand building either! The fountain looks as if it has just been dropped there. It doesn't look very professional .....,to me anyway!

Comment by: Maggie K on 24th September 2016 at 20:37

I agree with you Vb - should not have plastic pots. I don't think it is a fountain - does not look as though any water goes too or from it. However the Hall does need money spending on it the top floors are in a bad way.

Comment by: Mick on 24th September 2016 at 22:52

Kath if you turn a cars steering wheel when you get up the the new fountain it will go all the way around it , and the plastic planters are just temporary.

Punctuation...a new cure for sarcasm?

Comment by: Vb on 25th September 2016 at 11:10

I'm sure Lady Mabel in her incessant wanderings would have a mind to kick those plastic plant pots into touch at the first opportunity! She might also wonder where the water is to bathe her sore feet!
