Crooke Marina
I'll say this much Mick, you don't half get around on that flippin' ' lectric bike of yours. In about 1972 or thereabouts, I was the proud owner of a 17 foot fibreglass Callumcraft cabin cruiser that lived at Preston Brook marina. On one memorable occasion, I decided a trip to Burscough might be in order. After all, it's only a three or four day trip. ( one way that is, and dependant also upon how many hostelries one chooses to visit ), and as my brother and his family lived in Crooke village, I decided to moor up there on my third or fourth night out, I forget which, it was a while ago. At the time, my vessel, to give it a fancy name was the only craft,....ooh! there's another one..., on the canal, and the kids came from all over Worsley Hall to gawp at it and throw stones and make rude gestures, such was it's novelty value..." Run along now children as you are beginning to annoy me, and incidentally, here's the catapult and ball bearings that I keep stashed for occasions such as these ".... Go there today and you'd be forgiven for thinking that the Spanish Armada had arrived. The name of the bloke that owned the farm before it became a marina was Tommy Halsall....Just another piece of useless info I'm afraid....And no Ken, I'm not talking about Tommy.
Regards. Ozy.
I bet you thought you were Aristotle Onassis!
Have you ever thought of putting a story of your life and times in Past Forward Oz?
I am sure it would go down a treat!
