Bridge 63

It also appears that the work has stop on the Commercial pub at Top Lock.
More like a bridge to far of late.
They work on it, sometimes 3or 4 times a week but nearly always inside. I have no idea when it will re-open.
Is that the old Crawford Arms?
Mick as regards Commercial two rumours abound:
1. the builders did not have planning permission
2. It will be demolished when the new bridge is built to accommodate the massive housing estate planned on the old Kirkless Site
I heard that the old Crawford Arms had been bought by the chap who owns Blue Star taxis. Now I got that piece of information off a bloke down the pub, so it must be right.
Yes Gary, it is the old Crawford Arms. There is still a mail box set into the roadside wall with the insignia VR set into it.
DerekB it will be ER set into it.
Silly Garry, wrong again. The post box does bear the insignia VR as DerekB says. :)
No Garry, listen to Derek B and me, VR !!!!
Thanks DerekB - I used to take my mother over to Wrightington Hospital for annual hip checks and we always had lunch at the Crawford Arms when we drove back. They did an excellent beer battered fish. Mind you, I'm going back over 25 years.
