Different photo Mick. That bridge would be at the rowing club?? Calderbanks would gladly take the rail.

It`s that bridge again, lol.
Wonder if those railings were there pre 1939-45 war. Iron railings were removed for use in the war effort, or were they? See:-

great angle Mick of an iconic bridge
(and Calderbanks wouldn't take the rails 'glady' - have you seen the price of scrap? - absolute rock bottom)

Nice shot of the bridge and canal but those railings are so dangerous and unsightly!
Come on council workmen, put down those meat pies and get graftin! :O)

I've had those spikes through my shoe soles a few times when climbing over this type of fence. And if Calderbanks won't take it away, maybe Tyrone off corrie will oblige.

Unusual alternative angle to the regular shots of the basin bridge

Its an eye sore and shows Wigan up, god knows why the Haigh plantation folk have left it there all these years

Mick, I don't think any Wiganer would want that bridge removed. And Ron Dawber would be out of work.

I think Mick is referring to the fence not the bridge.😊
