Photo-a-Day (Monday, 11th January, 2016)
Wigan Parish Church
Great photo except for the church falling over backwards.
10 past 10 that what the parish church clock is saying, and if you look at all these professionally taken clock advertising photos you will see that they are also always taken at 10 past 10.
I understand antique clock dealers sometimes use the same trick to make a clock look more attractive, as if it is "smiling".
Ah, but, Mick, is it actually 10 past 10? You can`t rely on it for the correct time.
A reminder of my childhood there Ernest. When i used to complain about something and say, 'Ah but,'to my dad he always replied with,'Never mind Abbot, he lives down the street'.
Clocks for sale in shops are always set at ten past ten or ten to two as they look at their most attractive with the hands at that angle.
Irene's spot on. Clocks and watches are more appealing to customers when the fingers are fully visiable and are not overlapping.
Ernest, you would think they would put it right when they alter the clocks but they don't.
