Photo-a-Day (Thursday, 26th November, 2015)
Petrified tree stump
what frightened it?
Looks quite calm to me.
Mal maybe it was all those negative do gooder comments from yesterday photo of the day posted by all those double named folk
I suppose that's somewhere between a tree and a lump of coal. Interesting!
Yawn!!
Attention seeking mick petrified it with some more sick comments.
His comments yesterday should never have been posted, so why did you allow it Admin?
Your a disgrace for allowing it.
Interesting photo! (This comment, as yesterday's, from a non-double-name person).
Still no apology Mick from yesterday's. awful comment, we will wait and sèe.
PS Mick, as you seem to think we are all hiding behind an alias, I am going to put something very public. My brother tried to take his life some years ago. He didn't succeed and was admitted into a mental heath unit where he tried again. Believe me, it isn't a subject to make jokes about. Other people on this site may have gone through that agony too. Please try to realise that. My apologies to the submitter of today's photo for detracting from it, but it had to be said. I very rarely get involved. Sorry, everyone.
Irene I know you are a genuine person because I know you from the 40s weekends.
And just for my record, my best mates dad hung himself, and another of his relations jumped in front of the robin hill train, another jumped into wrightington fish ponds and another put her head in the oven with the gas on.
All from one family mmmmm
And my best mate drunk himself to death in Spain 18 months ago.
I am sorry to hear those sad stories and hadn't the faintest idea you knew me, Mick. If you attend forties weekends I'm afraid I don't know who you are, but hope you accept that I felt I had to say what I said. I hope everyone will return now to comments on today's photo, which is only fair to Mick Byrne who took the trouble to submit it.
Mick. You will be driving me to do the same. This is photo a day not mighty gobs outlet. Think its time to put my camera on eBay.BY BY.
The guy is a moron who should be banned.
Ron D.
Don't give up. Your photo yesterday was extremely well taken and conveyed a lovely sense of peacefullness.
Well done. Keep up the good work.
well said irene.
mick is a sad sick person.
Irene there is no reason why you should be sorry because you didnt know any of them.
Ive just remembered two more who hung themselves one was Ray my old school mate and drinking mate, he thought he was ill and hung himself on the top of the stairs.
Another was a gay steward on a oil rig I was working on in the north sea, he hung himself with some bed sheets in the laundry room.
BTW nice interesting photo mick

You do seem to have that affect on people.
Lets put this post to bed for gods sake, other wise you'll all be at the doctor's with stress.
Mick, your comments yesterday were maybe a little insensitive but the reaction from some people was worse. It was a matter of just scapegoating you. Many of whom so called don't like wigan world and it's admin but can't stay away.
I too have lost two friends that have died but hanging themselves. I've had to cut a man down from a tree in Salford yet, your comments were not upsetting to me.
Darren it depends on what you think is insensitive.
When I saw thew cut off rope on the photo, I was only asking a simple question.
Will it be insensitive when a photo of a road junction is on Photo of the day to ask is that the junction where Joe Soap got killed, are a photo of the canal, to ask is that where Joe Soap got drowned.
Mick please post your address them people can send you a spade to dig yourself out of that big hole you are making for yourself, just apologise for your insensitive comments, and move on.
Darren, I wasn't scapegoating Mick. I have seen many adverse comments about Mick without adding to them until yesterday; I would have said what I said to WHOEVER had made the comment , and I think, from Mick's reply to me, that he knows that.
Come on you lot as my little grandaughter jokingly says zip it and lock it put the key in your pocket . Now will someone please tell me what this is and where.
Can,t understand why some people on P.A.D when there is a serious disagreement on a picture, or at odds with each other , they say let's put this to bed or let's stop this. When all are in agreement in can go on and on. Counter arguments and different insights are what forums are about, that's what makes WW so interesting , different opinions. Mick's picture clearly upset people but let's not stop , quell or limit sensible debate if a picture touches a raw nerve. It would be painfully boring if we all agreed all the time. If you don't like the channel switch to another one.
I must say I love Sam's grand-daughter's "Zip it and lock it, put the key in your pocket"!
Sorry Irene, I disagree. A voice locked in a pocket is one unheard. If people on PAD become afraid to make a comment, or zip it and lock, then this no longer becomes a forum. I believe every comment has to digested and heard whether you like it's contents or not, the judgement , good or bad on its reader.
Kas, it was just the flippant rhyme that made me laugh, not the meaning behind it......it just reminded me of something my grand-daughter would say to make me laugh. I think you can see I made my voice heard recently.
And long may it continue Irene.
