A glacial 'erratic'.

If I was digging 11 feet down and come across this big rock I think I would have just left it there as part of the foundations.

Wonder how many folks it took to haul that out of the hole.

Is the big stone still there on Winstanley Road, that was said to have been deposited there by a melting glacier, I've driven along there a few times but I haven't noticed it, though when keeping an eye on the road you tend to miss things.

If Seth is correct in saying it is a glacial erratic maybe the parish clerk recognised it for what it was and thought it should be on show.
