Photo-a-Day (Wednesday, 15th April, 2015)
This old house
Holgate School Orrell
Horrible shot, much better in colour...what's the point!!
The point is that be removing the colour we focus more on what the photo is about. Light, shadow & texture. Each to their own :)
Not Orrell.
I don't know where it is but I love it!
I agree Fred, it does look like the housenear the Holgate roundabout in Orrell.
Don't know this place but the photo is very effective. The black and white really gives it character.
As a kid i used to develop and print my own work in B & W of course and in a way I morn the passing of it but colour is also good in it's place as you more or less say Dave. Great shot.
I await the location now with bated breath. Well done.
Not familiar with this building.
What location was it that you took the photo Dave (Oy)?
No way is it Holgate School it may be a cottage near the roundabout, but Holgate school was a single story building.
I was stood on a main road not far from a High School. It's an old Farmhouse :)
Great pic as always, Dave. I like the b/w photos. I'm intrigued as to where the house is though!
It's very atmospheric..love it Dave.
Is it the farm house just off Lowton Road Golborne, I've heard that a massive housing estate is planned on the land around there, soon there'll be no open green spaces left around Wigan and Leigh.
When I saw this picture I just knew it was a Dave (Oy). Love how you present a picture .
Thanks Dave, Find this picture so haunting.
Thanks folks.
This old farmhouse and it's surrounding buildings are just along the road from Golborne High School.
Great shot mate, the mono suits it well
Recognised it straight away. It's opposite the entrance to Golborne Clinic where I work. Very sad that the land is going to be built on. Traffic will be even more horrendous.
Good atmospheric photo though.
Just pure brilliance
Dont see the point...Horrible !
looks like the film Psycho. Good shot,Ron
Golbourne!
Still non the wiser. Can Golbourne be classed as Wigan? Come on you bright sparks!
Golborne is as much part of Wigan (borough) as Astley, Mosley common.. or Platt Bridge :)
The site was known as Bob Dones Farm, other than that I know nothing.
