Another great photo of old Wigan, Mick.

Just imagine all the steam trains that once rode along that piece of track. Between Southport and Manchester perhaps?

very unusual Mick - trust you to spot this - used to go train spotting down there as a kid - 'are we going down the Gap' we woudl say because thats what we used to call it - Happy Days
PS shame about 'The Vic' though!

Well spotted Mick, I've not been down there much but certainly had never noticed the kerb.

I suspect that some customers of the Vic may have seen this particular view before it was posted on Wigan Album. Nice one Mick.

Mick must have parked his bike there to put his camera on the pedal.

OW - planning permission is in, all being well this part of town should be looking a lot better this time next year.

Oh my God. This photo has just taken me back some 53 years when I was trainspotting 'down the nick' as we called it. Waiting for the train to appear through the tunnel on the Southport line. Wondering if it is a jub, pat, scot but usually it was a tank engine. what brilliant brilliant days when I was 12 and the world was still only for us kids
