Interesting photo, Mick.

That bike is cluttering up the photo though..oooooops...

Comment by: Aubrey on 19th January 2015 at 10:34

Very nice, Mick. A continental look. Also a change to see a cycle parked upright, youths today leave them lying on the footpath.

Maggie, I think it's where all of Wigan's philosophers (you know, the gangs of old guys who sit around in cafes and on benches in the town and surrounds) are expected to gather together and solve the world's problems for us.
Bound to be a roaring success!

Rev David
I remember young (me included)and old guys leaning on the rail on the corner outside Woolworths (Station Road) putting the world to right or just generally chatting or eyeing up the girls passing!
Nice pic Mick must patronise it some day!

MUCH prefer the Wigan Central

Comment by: Mick on 19th January 2015 at 13:31

If that bike was a horse it would look like the wild west.

Comment by: Cyril on 19th January 2015 at 15:44

That isn't Mick Marie, he's Chris the bar owner, that bucket will be for the smokers to flick their dog ends in and not the street.

Trying to think of the name of the car sales that was there at one time, was it Cherrycroft Motors.

Comment by: Harry N on 19th January 2015 at 16:01

For those who hardly ever get out ,in the bucket is for water for dogs .

This was part of Mabs Cross Motors,a Vauxhall dealer.Well worth a visit if you are passing, always a good selection of real ale.Other sections of the building have been converted into a doctors surgery and a clinic
for Botox etc.
Quiet a variety!

Comment by: Dostaf on 19th January 2015 at 18:09

Cyril

It was at one time Mab's Cross Motors

Comment by: Giovanni on 19th January 2015 at 18:35

Comment by: marieM on 19th January 2015 at 19:06

Giovanni, so you were one of those lads on Woolworth's corner, eyeing up the girls, were you? AND you remember Maggie Mussell, (who my Dad always called Margaret Moosell). You little tinker, you!

Comment by: Giovanni on 20th January 2015 at 06:44

Guilty as charged, irene!! LOL.
It would have been late sixties and early seventies (I should have gone home) LOL. Maybe you got whistled at!! ;-)
