Photo-a-Day (Sunday, 4th January, 2015)
Gathurst Golf Club
I was a caddy there in the 1950's......didn't look like that then !
That's a nice one Mick... I feel cold looking at it.
Alright trying to find a white golf ball on that course(I know there are coloured golf balls).
Nice one Mick
Good photo Mick but the golfing doesn't appeal just yet.
When I started to play golf in the early 60`s you could play after 5pm at most of the local clubs in Wigan and District for 2/-. All you needed were clubs and balls - no appointment necessary.
I became a member at Chorley Golf Club in 1964 - country membership (living over 8 miles away) fee was 6 guineas!
The M6 motorway went thro` the original Gathurst 9 hole course and it`s 18 holes now.
I`ll ask the usual question, Mick - when taken?
Alan I used to caddy from the old club when it was at Gathurst and also the new club after the M6 was built
Ernest I think it was taken on a Tuesday
Lovely picture Mick.
very frosty like that here , this morning. very sunny too.
Nice one Mick. Going off topic, spare a thought for Maggie Down Under who lives near Adelaide in South Australia which is currently on fire. Hope she is OK.
Alan, do you mean Lizzie-down-under? (My apologies if there is a Maggie too). Lizzie doesn't seem to comment on Photo-a-day as much as she did. Hope she's okay.
Yes Lizzie is okay,we're in contact with her on Hobbies and Books, the last to time being on Friday..I hope she stays okay,it's a terrible fire.
Good photo, Mick.
Irene, I meant Lizzie of course, yet another "senior" moment.
