Very nice, wish I owned it. Wonder what price today.
Never been a fan of Mercs, either classic of modern (with the exception of the Gullwing), but it's nice to see a show like this on our doorstep. Haigh Hall would be a great place for an all round classic car show, it's strange there's never been one. What happened to the Haigh steam fair that's usually on around the end of August? can't recall the last time it was held. Not sure what model this is, maybe a 280SE. Price probably around 60-80 grand depending on condition, too much for most people.
There was one in 2002 organised in conjunction with the centenary of Wigan corporation transport. Many cars and vintage wigan buses including my little car. As Alb has said nothing on that scale since.
In Germany the good old Benz is the car adopted by the Taxi industry. In my opinion they are the most over rated car outside Germany. I've owned two and didn't want to go for a third. It seems to be the "In thing", that if you have a Benz you are seen as successful, it's simply rubbish!
It seems to have a road tax disc, surely it doesn't need one. If that is what one of those discs is.
Aha....I see Al Capone in the background.....
The car is almost 50 years old, Anne.
All vehicles must display road Tax, but on classic cars like this one, it will say NIL.
Syd what car do you own now?
A car is just a box on wheels to me!
Mercedes over-rated, I dont think so.
What planet are you on syd.
Mercedes W110 six cylinder engine or 230. It's predecessor today is the E class range. A top car in its day.
Beautiful car, nice shot of a classic from days gone by.
Ann one will be the tax disc, and the other will be Owners club emblum.
All vehicles must display road Tax disc but on classic cars like this one it will say NIL, my car says Nil on the tax disc.
This is a 1965 Mercedes Benz W100 600 with a huge 6.3 litre V8.
Worth about £50k I should think.
I do remember there being the steam fair in 2002. I remember there were a couple of classics like Morris Minor's, vintage Austin's, and a Daimler Dart (a rare classic indeed) and other classics as well as bikes, but I don't think it's been as big as that since. I have a video of the show somewhere (and of previous shows too); will have to upload them when I get the chance.
Mark, I own a Jaguar, and to Merc owner, I live on the planet Earth, obviously a planet that you are unfamiliar with!
A Jaguar Ahrrr, full of oil leaks.
Jags were ok in the 60s but not now.
Ford/jag or ford Mondao.
It could have a diesel engine? It is german, they did invent the diesel.
irene has no idea has she.
This is German engineering at it's best dear, it's not a box on wheels.
Ok some cars are, but not these.
Merc owner, rather patronising I felt towards Irene. You are clearly live in the world of wheeler dealers in which you, as so many , wish for a time and world that longer exists anymore . If you look how modern transport is progressing, and exclude Irene ,s wheel, this is how it will be. No doubt you and others will wonder, dream and ask, why was I born in the wrong time. Your only failure was being patronising .
Could you reinstate your comment in a more sensible constructed manor...what's your name, Kal something are other.
Cars like these and many more from the past have helped to make the modern world in car engineering and advances. Remember: If it wasn't for today there would be no tomorrow in motor vehicle technology.
Thanks for all your comments.
Well said colin. True.
