Photo-a-Day (Friday, 8th August, 2014)
Rose Bridge
Mick lad, You should put your collection of pictures in a catalogue! Credit to you, you certainly put yourself about.
A few years ago, we would be looking at the Empress Mill, that was just at the left side of the canal.
Nice photo again Mick.
Looking a second time, the building to the far left could have been the engine house.
Very pleasant, Mick.
Oh, to be in Wigan on such a day.
the building was the old engine house Garry, and the tall structure is hiding digital telephone masts, its an ugly plastic and wood load of rubbish
Aitch is it not better to see a tall tower rather than telephone masts.Good photo.I like the different things you can see in it.
Aitch, can you remember the year the Mill shut down?
I can remember going to visit my auntie Edna in Anderton St and going past the mill with the doors open - it was hot in the there but like a lot of memories I can still smell the smell of the cotton in the mill
Aitch I like that ugly plastic and wood load of rubbish thats covering the phone mast
Far better that than seeing the phone mast
The Mill looked much better than the tall building and the phone-mast...and created many jobs.
Empress mill in Ince, ceased production in 1975.
I stand admonished, maybe you are right and it is better than looking at a telephone mast, but I see it from the first thing in the morning til last thing at night, it haunts me lol
Try getting some net-curtains Aitch, or some blinds!
I have them both Garry, but why should I need them in my own home
To help you stop looking at the tel/mast.
I'm only joking Aitch, I understand where your coming from.
Try rearranging your furniture and your TV, that should do the trick.
Is that where Rapunzel lives?
