That's just it Graffiti, horrible mess of vandalism not Art. They should be made to remove it who ever is responsible. Eyesore of Wigan.

Comment by: Alan on 4th August 2014 at 08:18

No trick shots here. This is real. Where in Wigan is this vandalised wall, Mick. Shame on them.

Comment by: Max on 4th August 2014 at 08:21

I hope no one calls the ART!

Comment by: Catherine on 4th August 2014 at 08:34

Very interesting where is this?

Comment by: Fred Mason on 4th August 2014 at 09:31

Some of these 'artists' do have a lot of talent. We should be encouraging them to draw/paint.

Comment by: Ron D on 4th August 2014 at 09:34

Some organisations pay to have this done, counsels included. Some I have seen is interesting.

Comment by: Maureen on 4th August 2014 at 10:01

I wonder where they get the money from...paint costs a fortune now.

Comment by: Catherine on 4th August 2014 at 10:54

Where is this??

Comment by: Garry on 4th August 2014 at 12:00

Good point Maureen, and shops can't sell paint to kids...well they shouldn't do.
Fred and Ron D.."Artists" you both wouldn't say that if they painted you house in that mess.

Comment by: Mick on 4th August 2014 at 12:40

I like Graffiti if its well done like this one is, there one on the side of Wallgate bridge that says I LUV YOU JANE, it looks like its been done with a paint roller while hanging upside down which is a load of rubbish.

You see plenty of good artistic Graffiti when you are entering London by train and on in France a Italy you will see even more.

The photo dosent show what a proper good job the artist as done on this wall but lucky for you theres somebody whos actually made a video of the same Graffiti work and its here on YouTube for all to
see.

Catherine its along side the walkway that runs from Wigan park to Walkden ave.

Comment by: tricia on 4th August 2014 at 15:01

Penalty is a Public flogging for this in Singapore ... and you will not see any graffiti there.
In Prague a lot of the old ornate buildings like the Municipal House have been renovated beautifully ... and have immediately been vandalised.....my term for graffiti.

Comment by: Chuckabutty on 4th August 2014 at 17:04

Terrible.

Comment by: Garry on 4th August 2014 at 17:59

Here Here, Tricia.

Comment by: Janice on 4th August 2014 at 18:21

There is a big difference between graffiti and wall-art and when you look at this image in more detail, there is some skill and imagination in what the author has done to the wall. It is simply not gratuitous vandalism which has been done by the idiotic "x luvs x" brigade. However, even wall-art has to be done sensibly, not on ancient buildings and monuments or good architectural pieces etc. In my opinion, this has been done on a tatty wall and has really brightened it up, it is inoffensive and it is art of its kind.

Comment by: Garry on 5th August 2014 at 14:25

Janice, go and peel some spuds!

Comment by: Jean on 5th August 2014 at 16:29

Re comment by Janice. Those of you in the know. How old would you say this wall is any ideas? The Victorians built incredible walls and brickwork ,not like the rubbish of today. This only became a tatty wall Janice when this nonsense was added to it. A wall that has been repointed well is a splendid
sight. Why do they need to become a canvass of self expression. The wall itself is one of human expression and indeed art to many. If a wall still stands after hundreds of years that is the skill we should appreciate and salute. I,m with Garry on this.

Comment by: Jod on 5th August 2014 at 16:33

Another disparaging remark from Garry towards posters he disagrees with!

Incidentally, Garry, regarding your statement on P-a-D on 03/08/14, who are you to dictate what style of photos can be displayed on here; what suits one person may not be to another's taste, so live and let live!

I'm still waiting for one of your efforts!!

Comment by: Max on 5th August 2014 at 16:47

A tatty wall, Janice...just point it or grow ivy on it, don't let a paint nut spoil it!

Comment by: Jean on 5th August 2014 at 17:46

Please Garry, keep up with the disparaging remarks??? Jod refers to. Disagreement and debate is what make this so interesting.
Jod, what gives you the impression everyone disagrees with Garry? Opinion , that is all that matters.. I greatly welcome Garry and others insight good or bad

Comment by: Garry on 5th August 2014 at 19:04

Thank you Jean.
Jod, why can't you be useful for a change, go and remove that eyesore from that wall.

Comment by: tricia on 5th August 2014 at 19:11

Janice
To each his own and I respect your opinion but I will not apologise for mine.
Their talent would be better channelled into PAINTING on canvas or such.
Things like the London Tube trains get scrawled on daily and it costs the earth to clean the stuff off.

Jod, I see the sense of humour bypass is still working. For goodness sake Lighten up ! We Wiganers can all agree to disagree , surely.
Going for a cuppa now.

Comment by: Nev on 5th August 2014 at 19:13

Keep commenting Gary, you views are most welcom.
jod's, comments on p-a-d is all about Gary, nothing else matters.

Comment by: Jod on 5th August 2014 at 19:35

Jean, I didn't say everyone disagrees with Garry, but you're happy with Garry telling Janice to 'go and peel some spuds'?
I call that a disparaging remark. What sort of debate is that?
Anything to do with the subject?

Since we are on debating, I think P-A-D should welcome ALL types of photographic art - black and white, HDR,colour pop, long exposure, fine art and many more.
I welcome variety and will give constructive criticism because I would expect it of my images.

All some posters on here do is criticise from an ill-informed single viewpoint, and that's what invites my comments to them.

...and yes, I have had photos displayed on here, so I'm prepared to have opinion given, either good or bad, but not from ignorance or closed minds.

Comment by: Garry on 5th August 2014 at 20:43

Well said, Tricia.

Comment by: A friend on 6th August 2014 at 11:19

See, another comment about Garry from jod. Garry is a clever man really, so don't under estimate him, he says things tongue-in-cheek that's all. If he believes he's right, there's no way he'll give-in or back down. The P-a-D is all about opinions. Garry loves every ones comments and loves debates.

Comment by: Chuckabutty on 6th August 2014 at 17:02

I think Garry is right on this one with his comment to Janice. I understand his sentiment entirely! Certainly NOT disparaging.

Comment by: Jean on 7th August 2014 at 17:20

Fair point /s Jod. Some people comment differently. They might react with immediate distaste, this is what I believe Garry did. Where's others will reflect first. You are clearly the latter, but does not make Garry,s comments lesser. Unfortunately Jod there is ignorance and there are closed minds AND Jod there always will be.
