This area looks smaller to me now, more enclosed by the trees at the back of the memorial. The green area around it was much bigger & the memorial stood out. I went around that hairpin bend countless times on a Ribble bus from Wigan to Holland Moor. Used to be a bakers on the right just as you went into Hall Green, they made real vanilla custard slices....the things you remember !

Helen, the baker's on the right near Hall Green was Morrisey's, the shop is still going though has been run by Roger Rathbone for some years.

Unfortunate the memorial is in the shade. Spoils an excellent picture.

Bollards and the back of traffic sign spoil it for me.

Memorial would have looked brighter and better if it had some poppy wreaths on it

I agree with Ron D and Mick (bollards).

This is a shot of the location of the Memorial, rather than detail of the Memorial itself. I needed a wide shot to get the the road layout. It would have been nice if the memorial was brighter but I couldn't wait for the sun to be higher, to get more direct sunlight on the memorial, because I wanted a shot with little or no traffic.
