Round
Nice pic Ron, I used to live about 200yds from where that is at Bent Houses, my Granddad owned the two houses close to there. I liked bowling it is a good sport.
I remember Ince Park having a Bowling green in the 1960s and 70s. They still do, but it's over grown and not in use..sad really. It was a lovely Park with a tennis court, small golf course, lovely bedding plants and park keeper. The gates locked at dusk. Wigan Council don't seem to care, but Ince UDC did.
I lived by the Bowling Green at Billinge Road. many happy memories of walking my doll's pram around and hearing the clunking sound as the balls hit each other.
Up here in sunny Shevy we have two Bowling Greens and one big Golf Course
I believe that up your way you have Crown Green Bowls. Here in Bath, it is Flat green. I do not play myself, but my husband does. Just up the road from us, in our lovely park at the top of the hill, there is a bowls club which is 100 years old this year. There is also a Boules Piste.
Mick that's because Shevy is full of old fogies with nothing better to do.
There's a beautiful one in Atherton, behind a pub called the Bowling Green Inn.
Alan, the Bowling Green is in Leigh. There is a nice bowling green at the Gardeners Arms in Atherton
My mistake, thanks Pw, it is indeed the Gardeners Arms, on Lovers Lane, Atherton.
Now cyril's at it with Mick. Please respect peoples comments.
That looks a lot more relaxing than messing about on the river".
