I wonder if the travellers convoys somebody driving ahead looking for places to stop like Flint McCullough did when he was riding scout in Wagon Train.

Comment by: Colin Harlow on 22nd June 2014 at 08:24

No need for this..this day and age,it wouldn't be has bad if they'd clean up after themselves. I remember them or others like them, moving on Ince park, when they finally got moved after around three weeks or so, the Council had to clear all the rubbish with skip
lorries. The park is now fenced off so it can't happen again. We Council tax payers had to foot the bill for that. It wouldn't take weeks or more, to move them on if they set up camp at ie, Buckingham Palace.

Like Colin says its the rubbish that we has ratepayers have to pay to be removed that is the main problem with the travellers. They where heading for the 3sisters yesterday only needs one and the rest will follow (the down side of mobile phones)

A few years ago so called " Travellers" set up Camp near the Civic Center in Aspull. When the Police finally moved them on they deliberately drove their vehicles across the Cricket Pitch. It cost the Council ( Which means us ) thousands of pounds to clean up the mess they left behind. They really don't help themselves sometimes.

Comment by: Al on 22nd June 2014 at 10:12

Don't you just love the hatred against these travellers, or as the great unwashed British joe public love to call em, "Gypos". Why are people so against these people?, yes they leave their mess and that, but they're doing one thing which most of us never do and that's living independent of system like the grid and all the taxation we have to put up with with energy bills. The government want rid of people like this because they see them as a threat to the power structure and money. Moan at these people, why not moan at all the robbing bankers and scrounging royal family? No mention of them.

Comment by: Margaret Wall on 22nd June 2014 at 10:36

It is not 'politically correct' in this day and age to criticize these people, or their way of life but nevertheless they are a menace to the poor locals on whom they descend.
I used to live in Lower Ince and I remember them moving onto the Kwik Save car park when it closed down in the 90's The rubbish and human excrement they left behind them was sickening. I know they have to live somewhere but it is difficult to be tolerant when they set up camp in your area.

Comment by: julie on 22nd June 2014 at 12:07

I agree with you Al the last line of your comment the royal family are scroungers the travellers are a nuisance at tomes but most of them work for a living at least most of them are not claiming benefots like people who are coming over to this country and getting free handouts while are own people are living in poverty.

Comment by: Garry on 22nd June 2014 at 12:28

Not many of us could afford the caravans they have..a menace to us decent hard working folk, even though I'm now retired.

Comment by: Mags on 22nd June 2014 at 12:35

In the past, the boatmen and women who worked the Leeds Liverpool, like my relies did, were called water gypsys by a lot of people, they also had a bad reputation in some areas. I think, in a lot of cases it is because we don't understand people who have lives different to our own.

Comment by: Gareth on 22nd June 2014 at 12:57

They came to the local country park here and they used the public toilets they had and they made such a disgusting mess while they were there, Probably not used to them !

Comment by: joe on 22nd June 2014 at 13:23

al where do you live
can they set up camp
in front of your house ??

Comment by: Den s on 22nd June 2014 at 13:58

Al, how are they living " Independently of the system " when the rest of us have to constantly pay to clean up the mess they leave ?. If they removed the mess themselves you might have a point.

Comment by: carl on 22nd June 2014 at 14:26

Racist comments by julie there. Millions of brits refuse to work too. Lets hope these guys park in als front garden.

Comment by: Garry on 22nd June 2014 at 15:10

Carls a friut and nut case! Julie's spot on like the majority of us decent folk.

Comment by: Rate payer on 22nd June 2014 at 15:16

Comment by: Alan on 22nd June 2014 at 15:25

Comment by: billyedwards31@aol.com on 22nd June 2014 at 17:31

Comment by: Anne on 22nd June 2014 at 19:40

thought racism wasn't allowed on here....

Comment by: dirty harry on 22nd June 2014 at 20:49

there nothing but a bunch of low lifes robbing and steal anything that isnt tied down they should be brought to justice dirty pig and know im not being racism .

Comment by: John Morris on 22nd June 2014 at 22:00

Al and Julie, get your facts right. The Royal family work very hard, the Duke of Edinburgh is still working at 93, and contribute a great deal to both the economy and prestige of this country.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 22nd June 2014 at 22:21

Well said, John Morris.
If the Youth Zone had been built here, they wouldn`t have been able to go there!

Comment by: Al on 23rd June 2014 at 11:57

I am tired of this nonsense about people from other countries living off the benefits system, you are watching too many of those disgusting propaganda channel 5 documentaries "On Benefits and Proud" rubbish. Most of the people who come here from other countries have no choice but to, because their homelands are going through hell with famines, war and other problems; they come here because they want to get away from all that, and we would do the same in a heartbeat.

Comment by: Ian on 23rd June 2014 at 16:20

Im not 100% sure, but I've heard the travellers own the land, however the council have refused planning permission for an 'authorised' site.

Comment by: Jemmy on 25th June 2014 at 21:34

Crime rate will shoot up! Watch your metal gates...

Comment by: Jemmy on 26th June 2014 at 17:50

In response to Al...Why Britain? Why don't they go to France or Germany? They have THAT choice.
The only reason they choose the UK is that we're soft and pay out benefits as if they're going out of fashion. The UK HAS to reverse this trend, or there'll be civil unrest on a scale not seen since the War of the Roses.
