Photo-a-Day (Wednesday, 11th June, 2014)
View from St Wilf's
Please note - this is the steeplejack's view - but seen through the lens of my camera. He, Richard Thompson, took my camera up to the top of the spire to take shots of the view from up there for a calendar I'm putting together for St Wilfrid's.
I didn't ask if I could take the shots myself - although I did go up St Catharine's spire last February (see P-a-D for 24/2/13), that was a climb up scaffolding ladders - not an open, almost vertical, single stage climb. I don't think I would have got H&S clearance for it anyway.
I'm told someone took similar shots when work was last carried out on the spire. It would be good to root them out.
great shot. It makes me feel dizzy! Some flowers in the empty beds would be nice!
Love it! I like Standish but never thought I'd see it from this angle.
Fantastic,looking forward to more !
Too high for me....but a great shot.... cheers!!
Did nothing for me, sorry.
Terrific shot, Rev. Well done to Richard also.
You can make a panorama print from two or three shots 'stitched' together.
This would look fantastic.
Looking forward to your other shots from the spire.
David, does Steve Bradburn not have the last set of photos taken when the spire was scaffolded?
Great shot! although it definitely makes me feel queezy if I look too long
A simple photograph that will become an important photograph in years to come. I cycle on that road most weekday mornings. 'Record' images that simply capture a place as it is, will always have long term interest.
Another belter.
Nuns at St Maries used to tell me that when Im on my way up to heaven that would be the view I would get.
But from the other church.
