It must be a wonderful for the residents of inner Wigan to to see the open vistas of Shevington, Appley Bridge and Parbold when they are looking out from under this bridge.

Frog Lane, Poolstock, Swan Meadow Road, Meadow Street and on the other side of town Water Street and Marsh Lane. All these are close and maybe Frog Lane was closer to the River Douglas as far as flooding was concerned.There was always a problem with flooding in Meadow Street and Asda car park.Maybe when the river was diverted the problems lessened.Frog Lane may have been damp enough for frogs back then.
