Boer War Memorial (2 of 2)
Nice one again Brian....great to see the young ones taking part....cheers!!!
That isn't the statue I remember ,nowt like it.
You're right Ron, he should be holding his rifle - with bayonet fixed if my memory serves ... although, it has been a long time !
it's nice to see young people paying their respects
The old statue had an arm missing and looked very much like Davy Crocket! Nice to see a proper memorial there again.
I preferred the original statue to this one, but at least it's been replaced at last, is it of anyone in particular?
Splended Brian, you capture everything in this shot.
Harry, the statue is to represent soldiers of Boer war...none in particular, respect to them all.
Sorry, my mistake. He was holding his revolver and the colours - until his hand was knocked off at least !
Here is the original figure

Is that Darren dressed up as a cadet?
They should have copied the original which would have looked a lot better than this, it would not have been difficult as there are many pictures,
Whoever designed this have no artistic skills whatsoever,All that was needed was to copy the original,This statue does nothing for the town, Pull it down and start afresh,
