Tractor
Photo: Ron Dawber (Canon PowerShot G9)
Nice colorful photo Ron. Didn't they have, at one time, many years ago, a regular service from the Plantation Gates up to the Hall?
What a lovely photo....the colours are so vibrant....thank you Ron.....cheers!!!
Yes, Ken. It was green with a canvas roof in my childhood and the fare was 3d.
Lovely photo. Originally a tractor pulled the carriages I think. Our garden edged the Douglas Valley so we often took a shortcut across the fields to Haigh Plantations. We'd catch the tractor or cycle, which was not allowed, so we'd jump off and push our bikes if we heard the tractor approaching. It was always a great day out.
Your right Carol cycling was not allowed in the "Plants" but if you were crafty you could hitch a ride holding on to the last carriage.
The "Elves and Safety" would go ballistic now!!
Well snapped Ron, I have never seen that train before
That1s a nice summery picture.
Your memory to remember the old 'train is wonderful. I'd completely forgotten what it looked like back then. Hope you and Peter are keeping okay, and that you had some lovely 40's days.
Check this out re'the original 'tractor'
