Photo-a-Day (Tuesday, 25th June, 2013)
View from Winter Hill
Lovely view Mick, I did some of my courting around there.
Lovely Mick....from one of your videos I think....now I can put it in my album....cheers!!
What on earth has this got to do with Wigan World? Where the Wigan connection?
Gary, I suppose it has a place on WW because it must near Wigan. Wiganners go there. I went there myself as a child.
Look on the bright side, think how lucky you are to have such a nice place to visit.
That's quite a climb to the top, but well worth the views when you get there. really enjoyable. Good Photo.
What have KR, Lizzie down under and Garry all got in common?
Allot of Wiganer's have spent allot of time there ,So why not Garry?
Nice pick.
Garry; there`s been many a P-a-D taken from Wigan looking towards Winter Hill.
Where were you looking towards when taking this photo, Mick?
Brian decides what photo to put on P-a-D.
Again, some very happy memories of walks to this place. it belongs on this site because it makes so many of us happy to see it again - Wiganers that is.
Theres some Winter Hill videos here.

Ernest Im looking towards Belmont that Belmont church just to the right of the centre.
And for the Wigan only brigade, the lad on the photo is a Wiganer and I was sucking a Uncle Joes Mint Ball as I took the photo.
I always feel I have arrived home when Winter Hill comes into view.
Brill picture Mick.
It's a contentious point, does every picture on P-A-D have to be in Wigan? or is it where Wigginers spend their leisure time?.
You can see the wind turbine farm on Scout moor in the distance. Now theres another contentious issue.
Ok! rolo 69, you have my attention, what do they have in common?
Maggie. answer my question about junction terrace
that's a great photo of a quiet summer moment. so peaceful. and it belongs on WW belongs it's a well known landmark to Wiganers.
I love the photo, great shot. I put pic on of Blackrod scar crows last year, & was told that's Blackrod not Wigan, or words to that effect.
Maggie: expect you are wondering about sanibelfred`s comment at 16:37. He should have put Lizzie and is referring to last comment on 17th Jun.`13 P-a-D.
Lizzie, please look at last comment on 17th Jun.`13 P-a-D.
curious, I guess Rolo69 is going to keep us guessing???
Thank you Ernest for the prompt.....I answer to Fred's post about Junction Terrace Lower Ince......directly outside my grandparent's house at no.22 was a station......the steam trains stopped at the station and I guess let all the steam out with such a racket that it made such an impression on me I have never forgotten it.....yes maybe what you call ghost trains went through there but there were definitely noisy steam trains that stopped at the station.....and don't get me started on ghosts........cheers!!!
When I posted they were the first and the only three names. They're all from Wigan like the rest of us.My wife and I got engaged to be married on Winter Hill, when she saw the photo yesterday she was more than pleased thanks to Wigan World and Mick Byrne. Garry this site is about Wigan World, not just about Wigan, people from all over the world log on to it.Now that said, what did ALL the people from Wigan have in common with Winter Hill??? yes we all got out T.V. signal from the top of it.
Not me rolo69, I have Sky TV.
I said GOT Garry, not GET.
Thanks rolo69, we all have WW, thanks to the editor, thank you.
Lost a pound lighter up here once. It's probably still there. Maybe that chap is sitting on it.
