Now, THAT'S a picture.

Great shot, Brian.

I have never seen the inside of the DW stadium so it's a welcome sight.

Well done the Warriors and the Latics.

Wouldn`t like to polish that lot!
Wonder what proportion is the Latics.

Comment by: Gary on 1st May 2013 at 09:26

Pointless sport!

Comment by: Mick on 1st May 2013 at 09:27

I heard Dave had installed magnifying glass on the latics side of the trophy cabinet.

Comment by: Scholes Malc on 1st May 2013 at 10:10

The old championship trophy there should still be given out at the end of the season to the true champions; that is those who finish top of the league – much better than the hubcap that they hand out at present

Comment by: Scholes Malc on 1st May 2013 at 10:16

I remember the fire at Springfield Park and Dave Whelan gets a phone call to inform him about it

He exclaims ‘Has it reached the cups?’

Voice on other end calmly replies........... ‘it’s nowhere near the kitchen!’

Wigan could make history this year and making this the ultimate trophy cabinet, by achieving the never been done before, To put the Football Association Challenge Cup alongside the Rugby League Challenge Cup. These cups have never been pictured together.(according to google) Possibly never to be done again. Come on both teams ,do it for the town

Comment by: Gary on 1st May 2013 at 12:53

WiganLad...do what? Kick a ball in a net? For what? Hardly constructive and it won't change the world.
Yet again thousands watching a few highly paid elites get richer for running around a pitch!

Comment by: Margaret Wall on 1st May 2013 at 14:49

Gary millions of people throughout the world love football. Okay so it isn't earth changing, it's just sport but it brings pleasure to so many people and what's wrong with that?! My sport (to watch, not play) is tennis and nothing would make me happier than to watch Andy Murray win at Wimbledon this year.

If Wigan could also bring back the trophies, so much the better. Good luck lads!!

Comment by: Tricia on 1st May 2013 at 15:55

Not as pointless as slagging other people's interests for no reason Gary.

Something tells me you aren't one to change the world either - other than to infuse a little more misery.

Ernest, the clue is in the colour of the ribbbons

Comment by: harry lyon on 1st May 2013 at 22:21

latics average 20,ooo this season. enough said .

Comment by: danny dewhurst on 2nd May 2013 at 09:47

As ex wigan lad,its been 45 years since I first saw latics at the old Springfield Park against Macclesfield,All I know is they've come a long way since then. Well Done...I will be at Wembley for the trip of a lifetime. the ball and Chain has been unshackled!)

Comment by: Linda Forshaw on 2nd May 2013 at 13:21

I'm with Gary, Tricia. Sport is pointless.
Gary gave a reason why he was against sport. Unusually, I agree with a man!
Spectators get poorer whilst the players and club owners get richer.
Waste of time and energy.

Comment by: Tony haslam on 2nd May 2013 at 15:18

Sounds like you are into knitting Linda and Gary must be a couch potatoe. Sport is the best way of keeping healthy both physically and mentally. C,mon both Wigans let's have some silverware.

Comment by: Linda Forshaw on 2nd May 2013 at 16:34

Competitive sport, Tony. The type that makes millions for a few.
There's no way I could be deemed a coach potato! I'm a postwoman!

Comment by: jp on 3rd May 2013 at 13:55

Dear gary, if you were getting the money these players are getting, I think you would agree sport would be well worth while.Sounds like someone is getting more money than you think you should be getting

I'm retired, jp and I no longer bother about money from my point of view. Its just that many people simply can't see how gullible they are - and brainwashed. Why fork out hard earned cash to watch a few guys get richer and richer at your expense? Folk take sport too seriously. Time people did things for themselves and stopped relying on others for so-called, thrills and entertainment. Sport is now just a money spinner and the 'fans' fall for it!

Comment by: TAB on 5th May 2013 at 08:51

Gary, how I agree with you concerning gullible and easily led people. Professional football is NOT sport in the true sense of the word, as can be said of other money making sport. Its main purpose these days is to create wealth for the few by manipulating thousands. O.K. manipulation is used in many areas of our lives but not to the extent football appears to be.

Comment by: Bob on 5th May 2013 at 09:40

To Tony Haslam,
Knitting is far more productive and mind stretching than the inane chanting that goes on at football matches.

Comment by: Adele on 12th May 2013 at 09:54

That space in the middle will now be filled!

Comment by: Derek Callaghan on 13th May 2013 at 12:30

Latics have the FA Cup, Wigan Rugby to win the Challenge Cup and Greenhalgh's to win best pie trophy. Now what a Wigan treble that would be

Comment by: Derek Callaghan on 14th May 2013 at 09:49

Sorry to Greenhalgh's but meant to say Galloways pies although Greenhalgh's pies are good as well, better than the rubbish we put up with here in West Midlands (pukka pies) yuk
