Well done Brian. What a great moment and piece of history to have captured. I wish so much that my late partner - who died in May - could have been here to see this happening. He was a very proud Wiganer andwould have been over the moon!
Thank you Brian....wonderful for me to see.....I am so far away....yet so near.....cheers!!!!
Brian,an old saying,but so very true,you can't
buy atmosphere . I haven't been to The New
Wembley ,but I will never forget the intense feeling of pride when attending one of Wigan's(Rugby') visits a few years ago,.Even before getting to the stadium the feeling of euphoria walking along Wembley Way is still an abiding memory .WELL DONE LATICS, is victory in the final possible ,YES IT IS
Great day for the Latics!!!!!!!!! My uncle Bill (Lomax) played in the previous most famous Latics FA Cup ties against Newcastle in 1954. Fingers crossed for the final.
Yes great day, great win and a great experience for Wigan Athletic fans but I why wasnt this match played on a ground that was halfway in between both clubs.
And the timing was all wrong it should have been played in the afternoon, so that the fans could get back home at a decent time, and it should have been shown on the BBC live so I could have watched it.
good luck in the final!!!!
Pointless sport. Waste of time and energy that could be put to much better use.
Brian, I was a friend of Barbara Lomax, Billy's daughter, when we both worked at John England's in the 1960's, and have often wondered where she is now. We weren't boyfriend/girlfriend, just friends. Are you still in contact with her? Have you got an e.mail address?
Hi Ron.....indeed I am.....I spoke to her just last week. She now lives in the South and I will pass on your message to her.
Hi Brian great. Thanks just tell her I've been asking how she's going on. I was a BIG Everton Fan and I would bring her a programme back from the games I went to. If I remember correctly I think her friend went out with Paul McCartney before he was famous? Anyway you can ask her<g>
Brian, how long has Wembley been in Wigan? lol.
Think I wrote this a while back.Used to go to the cinema a lot and if wigan had played a cup match finaland won it ,The cinema screen went blank and all the lights would come on and on the screen it said "Wigan won the cup"Everybody stood up and cheered !Happy memories!
Ernest, don't you think there was a little bit of Wigan with everyone of those fans? Looking forward to the late night watching the match down here, and I bet my dad will be there too in spirit.
john forshaw are you a blinkered egg chaser? Less than 7,000 to watch the BIG cup game with Leigh. . Rugby town?
Oh that we had Billy Lomax leading the line now instead of the present strikers who couldn't hit a barn door from 6 yards let alone put the ball in the net.
Ron....I know Barbara was a huge Beatles Fan and I remember siting with her as she went through all of her Beatles Fan club magazines and pictures. Never heard the story of Paul Macartney though but will ask her. File this under "it's a small world...." , I used to live at the end of Penny Lane when I was at Liverpool University
Hi Brian thinking again I don't think it was Barbara's friend that went out with Paul McCartney(she had dark hair and Barbara's friend was a blond) but her friend did used to go to the Cavern Club on Saturday night on a regular basis.I remember her getting some virus? from sweating in the club and then coming out into the cold
Ron
I spoke to Barbara and she says hi.
Hi Brian, can you send me her e.mail address or pass mine onto her. I would love to find out how she is going on ron@wiganworld.co.uk
