Is Horwich in Wigan now?

Comment by: Lizzie down under on 11th March 2013 at 02:32

Wow what a great photo David.....nice enough to go into my album if I may?
Cheers!!!!

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 11th March 2013 at 05:15

The steel structure looks on the point of collapse! Great variety of houses. Like the look of the one with a `face` with a large mouth!
David, I think it would have been improved if clouds had been in sky, do you?. When was it taken?

Comment by: Roy on 11th March 2013 at 08:55

Good clear pic David, but i must make the same comment as Jonno, it isn,t Wigan, i know it was taken from 'Wigan' but this is part of Bolton.

Comment by: Mick on 11th March 2013 at 10:03

I been asked a few times to confirm where some of my photo of the day that I have sent in, and the ones that wasnt in Wigan never came on.

But having said that I dont think the photos should just be of Wigan I think they should be from where any member live are have been on holiday this way the Wiganworld members who are overseas could join in.

Comment by: Gary on 11th March 2013 at 10:42

Horrible stadium. A definite blot on the landscape.

Comment by: Ron D on 11th March 2013 at 11:33

Some photographers take sunsets. That\s farther away than Horwich .

Comment by: aitch on 11th March 2013 at 11:41

I agree with roy, but its not the photographer to blame, its the people who let them through, sorry,!!

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 11th March 2013 at 14:49

You are not wrong Ron D !
My grouse (ouch!) is about `Wildlife` photo`s that could have been taken anywhere.
Has Brian shot most of them down!

Comment by: Ron D on 11th March 2013 at 15:38

I put very few natural history photographs on here now because of grouches like you Ernest .If I say it was taken in Wigan area ,then it was. Wild life, like broken down buildings, will be part of Wigan for a long time yet

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 11th March 2013 at 16:42

Ron, I`m not disputing where the `Wildlife` photo`s are taken.
I don`t dislike them but a P-a-D should be a photo OF Wigan.

Comment by: David on 11th March 2013 at 18:01

Thanks folks, taken on the 27th Feb Ernest about 2pm, but not a cloud in sight, feel free to take a copy Lizzie.I think its a magnificent stadium always reminds me of a spaceship just landed ,I knew it would get a few negative comments but its Brian's choice whats shown on P,a,D.

Comment by: john on 11th March 2013 at 18:09

well stop winging on about everyones photos Ernest and get some took yor self ,then we can have a good moan ?
this is why i havent put many photoes on PAD latley cos of negataivaty + moaners .
normal folks like a good photo

Comment by: peter israel on 11th March 2013 at 18:26

i wonder what is the percentage of people on ww who do not live in wigan no more and would like to post a pic once in a while so i agree with mick

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 11th March 2013 at 19:52

John, how long have you been looking at P-a-D? Put Ernest Pyke in Search box above.
My last two P-a-D`s were on 18th and 19th February 2013.
I`m not a whinger or a moaner either.

Comment by: Lizzie down under on 11th March 2013 at 19:57

Thankyou David, appreciated.....:-)
Mick I agree.....Photo-a-Day Wiganers Abroad......cheers!!!

Comment by: Neil Rigby on 11th March 2013 at 20:14

peter, a photo section called Wiganer's World might be appropriate!

Comment by: dave johnson on 11th March 2013 at 20:57

Always thought that the Reebok is one of the better designs of the stadia that have been built in the last twenty years or so.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 11th March 2013 at 21:12

Ron, in New Gallery there is a section for Wildlife and also a section for Haigh Hall, so why not use them?

Comment by: Maggie K on 11th March 2013 at 23:26

The title Wigan World says it all - WIGAN - so photos should be of Wigan. I would however be interested to see where the ex-pats live. How about a section for them and leave the Wigan bit just for Wigan?

Comment by: Art on 12th March 2013 at 00:55

Stop whingin' 'n moanin' Ernie...
Don't like animals...Don't like Black & white

Are you the Wigan pics bobby?

The pics on here are posted by the ones who want 'em...& OK'd by the admin..What's it gett'n t'do wi' thee???
Don't like 'em...go elsewhere

Comment by: Mick on 12th March 2013 at 09:03

Carry on the way you are Ernest you make this photo a day section more interesting.

If it wasnt for people like you the photo a day section would took over by all those cameramen (and women) who dont get out much and comments are mostly nice photo mate.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 12th March 2013 at 10:26

Art; I`m not rising to your bait. When are you going to submit a P-a-D?
Mick, thanks for your support. I know there are others of like mind.
Am enjoying your video`s. When do swans breed? I`m thinking of the black swans in the moat at Arley Hall.

Comment by: Roy on 12th March 2013 at 11:45

I agree with Maggie K, let,s see were the ex pats are living, we keep hearing about the snow, the cold, the heat, could we not HAVE an ex pats P a D section Brian?

Comment by: john on 12th March 2013 at 19:47

One for ernest here , each concrete block holding the stations up has 120 cubic meters of concrete in them .the total weight in each block is 264 tons ,i was the man who mixed it from our horwich conrete depot .

Comment by: JM_Wigan on 12th March 2013 at 20:34

Maybe another section could be added to the site for photos.

"Wiganer's around the Globe"

I have no problem seeing out of Wigan photos. Not sure I want to see where other ex pats live, not because I don't want to see the photo, just it might make me jealous ;)

Comment by: JM_Wigan on 12th March 2013 at 20:35

Oh forgot, great photo :)

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 12th March 2013 at 22:47

john, I`m not a mind reader. I`ve no idea what you are writing about.

Comment by: Roy on 13th March 2013 at 00:30

Ernest, John is referring to your comment that the steel structure seems on the point of collapse.

Comment by: Art on 13th March 2013 at 01:28

We have the same trouble with your posts ernie :O(

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 13th March 2013 at 09:28

Roy, why didn`t john refer to my comment re collapse, which was meant jokingly, hence the exclamation mark. One of the subjects I took for my B.Sc.(Eng) was Theory of Structures.

Comment by: tricia on 13th March 2013 at 11:49

Art at 0.55

Don't hold back next time LOL
say exactly what you mean !!!
Ernest, I must admit that you come over as a bit pedantic at times.
Would be nice , though, if everyone stopped picking and squabling...
Not at all like the Wiganners I remember.... Pity.

Comment by: Roy on 13th March 2013 at 12:43

Your B.Sc. didn,t include English Ernest, i know that the Eng means Engineering and not English, lol. An exlamation mark means Emphasis or Strong Emotion not as you put it 'a joke'. If you type something as a joke, keep up with the times and type, lol.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 14th March 2013 at 04:38

OK Roy, I`ve looked at:-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LOL

Comment by: Roy on 14th March 2013 at 12:54

Ok Ernest, my comments were only said in jest anyway.

Comment by: Gary on 15th March 2013 at 13:00

No stadium looks good to my mind.
In fact, I can't see the point in them!
I wonder why some people automatically believe that all of us like sport? I'm totally against thousands watching a few elites performing in order to get fame and riches. I may add, at the expense of those spectators.

Comment by: Ticsmon on 15th March 2013 at 21:49

Only for a certain Mr Whelan, this would have been the home of Wigan Rugby
