Nice one. Looks cold now but will soon be spring.

Comment by: alan on 19th January 2013 at 00:28

That is a bleak wintery scene. I like it.

Comment by: Ellen on 19th January 2013 at 01:37

Well!! Thanks for this, Jeff. I was just sitting here, all miserable and feeling sorry for myself with what feels like the beginning of a nasty cold; this makes me remember that there's always something to look forward to,like tomorrows sunrise! Again, many thanks!

Comment by: Helen on 19th January 2013 at 08:24

I like that, subtle colours, the frost on the ground, the pale sun, the lone tree. I would say that was a good composition.

Comment by: Dave (Oy) on 19th January 2013 at 08:42

That's a beauty!

Comment by: Ron D on 19th January 2013 at 08:51

Very nice Jeff.

The blue sky turning into gold silhouetting the stark tree with harsh frost on the ground .Too competitive. my sort of picture.

Comment by: Mick on 19th January 2013 at 14:58

I wonder where that smoke is coming from.

Comment by: irene roberts on 19th January 2013 at 15:09

You should enter this in a photographic competition, Jeff. It's beautiful.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 19th January 2013 at 15:28

What smoke, Mick? Looks like cumulus clouds.

Comment by: Loz on 19th January 2013 at 15:47

Smoke and rising water vapour is from carbon dinosaur Fiddlers Ferry power station. All that valuable heat from the cooling towers is just disappearing into the atmosphere. What a waste.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 19th January 2013 at 16:24

Loz, Fiddlers Ferry power station is south west of Wigan. The sun rises in the East.
Still remember your comment on my 1st P-a-D of 2nd April`13 - "don`t tell`em Pyke !"
Jeff, is this the same tree as that on your 1st Jan.2011 P-a-D?

Comment by: Jeff Haydock on 19th January 2013 at 17:08

Ernest, yes your right, though I hadn't realised it till you pointed it out.

Comment by: Loz on 19th January 2013 at 20:44

Hiya Pikey, OK, the sun rises in the East, but it sets in the West. If the pic was taken late afternoon, that's about right. If you look at my recent pic taken at Scotmans Flash (mid to late afternoon) you can see the clouds rising from Fiddlers Ferry on the horizon. Ok, at ease men!

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 19th January 2013 at 21:27

Loz, Jeff says in his 14:46 comment that he took it last Sunday morning.
I typed `13 instead of `12 in my
comment!
When was your P-a-D posted?
Did you see tonight`s `Dad`s Army`?

Comment by: Loz on 20th January 2013 at 01:51

Ok,Pikey, I may be wrong, never mind. Can't seem to access my photo...
And I'm afraid I didn't see the Dad's Army episode either...

Comment by: John H on 20th January 2013 at 19:13

Cracking shot, very nice frame it & put it on the wall

Comment by: Joan (Widnes) on 20th January 2013 at 23:50

Lovely pic - Alan do you like a bleak winter or you like the pic? Loz & Ernest - I live near Fiddlers Ferry, scary clouds from there!

Comment by: Mr T on 22nd January 2013 at 14:40
