Pie eating contest
Thats all wrong serving pies upside down like that, they have a top and should be served top up.
Make my pie a meat one. I would love to be in a pie eating contest. Or fish and chips. Or steak and mash. Or........
Hey Lizdownunder Ive put some photos of St Maries and your house on the forum section.
Good one Ben!!! But bring me up to speed, the Halifax....... Building Society??????? That is the only bell that rings!!! Cheers!!!
Whose pies are they,Greenhalch's Gallagher's or Pooles. Wish anyone could make them as good in Canada, one of the dellicasies I really miss even after 32 years
is that a muffin man pie?
Who says I have a big mouth
Thanks so much mick but I'm not registered in the forum, could you email them to me? Cheers!!
My money is on the young lady.
Where's Irene Roberts when you need her?
It was outside the Halifax Bank in wigan. The young lady won. And I think the pies were supplied by greenhalghs
Nice photograph - at 1st glance I thought it was a "blast from the past" and was taken in the fifties - quite surprised it was an up-to-date event.
You cheeky monkey, Neil Cain. You know I exist on lettuce leaves and never look at a pie! Wish your Grandad Jimmy Cain's pies fron Ince were still going.....I'd have won hands down!
Lousy monochrome! Some folk are stuck in the past.
Liz down under,, could you email them to me?
Answers NO
Lizzie down under, you don`t need registration to look at photo`s in Forum - only to make comments.
Mick`s photo`s are in Photos of Wigan section.
The stone in front of the house in Pepper Lane has `Brookhouse` on it.
My view about monochrome is that if one considers photography as making a historical record, then use of monochrome may well be described as "stuck in the past." If photography is regarded as "an artistic medium", monochrome is entirely justified. It's a bit like complaining that a new portrait painted in oils is old-fashioned and a colour photo would be much better, somewhat missing the point.
So the Halifax Building Society became a bank, just like over here, they switch from building societies to banks so they can become the greedy sods that they are!! Yes I am having a winge, apologies to anyone that works in a bank and posts anywhere on WW. Cheers!!!!
Agree with pat on the first sentence .I too thought it was an oldie. Also agree with Mick ....why were the pies served upside down ?
good pic.....different.
Lizzie, you're entitled to have a whinge, love.....enough people do on here! Neil, I agree with you. My son's wedding-photos were in both colour and black-and-white and both were stunning in their own individual way. I have the film "Scrooge", filmed in 1951 with Alastair Simm as Scrooge. I have both the black-and-white and the coloured version, and much prefer the black-and-white; it just looks "right" somehow. Same applies to "Brief Encounter" and "The Elephant Man".....some things just lend themselves to black-and-white.
Ben,this is a great photo covering past ,present and future all rolled into one, well done.
Thankyou Mick, I found them and pinched the pics of the stone and my house, hope you don't mind. It was vvery good of you to do that for me, cheers!!!
Irene, all my wedding photos are in black and white!! In 1971 coloured photos were just coming in and the fellow that took our photos suggested the last one be in colour, he was going to charge the earth for it so we said no and you know what all the photos are beautiful and all are in black and white, and that was only because the bride was an still is a stunner!!!! Lol cheers!!!
thanks for all your comments, not entirely sure why the pies are upside down but i know the aim was (rather than eat as many pies as you can) eat the pie in the quickest time with only your mouth (hands behind back) so maybe they made them do them upside down so it would be harder to eat, not sure.
Mick, no more blessings, you have been blessed enough, you're halo must be out of this world shiny!!! Cheers!!!
I ate Galloways pies off and on all the last 2 weeks. I also went to the chippy on Woodhouse Lane 3 times and brought a huge plastic box of mixed pies home with me...
Shangri la!
I've had a Galloway's meat and prato' pie today. It was obnoxious.
Only pie shop I could find open on a Sunday in Platt Wazz. Never again!
