On what day was this fine weather with the Omo or Daz whitened cumulus clouds, Dave?
Is their a completion date for Southgate? (which goes to the SADLLE !!).

Further to my earlier comment, here`s an extract from Borough Life, Issue 39, Autumn 2012 :-
"Cllr David Molyneux
said: “I’d like to thank
everyone who made
suggestions for the new
road, which has helped
us to choose something
truly local and
appropriate.
And with an expected
opening date early in the
New Year, it won’t be
long before we can all
drive along Southgate."

I pity those people who live at the end of eleanor st with all the traffic/noise which will be passing by

It'a about time we built more railways instead of more roads, there's always going to be a "bottle neck" at the saddle junction. This road will make no difference at all.

Bring back the bird photos.

Another interesting photo Dave. This type of photo will be very important in the future recording the development of Wigan, and what is here now. How long will it be before the houses of Eleanor St. are gone. In reply to Garry, we don't need to build more railways, we just need decent rolling stock and longer trains. In the days of steam I don't remember any trains being less than 3 coaches.

now now mick go wash your mouth out . im with garry on this one lets have more railway piccys on wigan world and lets lay loads more tracks and have loads of class 40s thrashing and clagging ggggrrrrrrr beast

Garry,it should get rid of the bus lane in Pottery road, and stop the danger of filtering two lanes of traffic into one near Kwik Fit coming up into wallgate.

Comment by: Neil Rigby on 28th September 2012 at 16:16

Southgate should have been called "Marshgate" IMHO.

It already looks too narrow to me. I guess they have to build according to land available.

Peter P I agree with you on this one....just think of all the dust and dirt as well. I bet the ladies can`t put their washing out!
