Photo-a-Day (Monday, 6th August, 2012)
Diggle St & Rylands
Well, well, I never expected to see a photo of Diggle Street on P-a-D.
I was born at number one on 14th January 1928.
There are 3 photo`s of it in Wigan streets.
Photo`s of Rylands Factory are in Places in Album and Mills in Old Gallery. The chimney was much taller when it was built and I remember seeing it being lowered.
John Rylands Library is well worth a visit refer :-

Excellent photo, Stewart. You got the weather for the sky, light and shade also good perspective. When did you take it and where were you born? (surely not Diggle Street !!)
Nice light on this Stewart and a lovely moody sky and very sharp. I love to see photos of the streets. very nice photo.
I really like this. It reminds me of childhood....a terraced street with one side in shadow and the other in sunshine. We'd play out all day and by evening the sun/shade would have changed sides.
Yes the only thing missing is the cobbles Irene with the tar bubbling in the heat! We used to pick it out with lolly sticks and then get in trouble because it would not come off your clothes or shoes. Happy days.
Agreed, Janice! I could go on and on about childhood memories but would probably get drummed off photo-a-day for not sticking to the subject! But when photos are posted that bring back memories, it's hard to resist writing them down.
good pic Stewart, on a cracking camera!
is the VW aloud to park on the road side with a number plate like that ?
good one dirty harry. made me smile
Well spotted DH, bet we all went back to the picture again to have a look.!
Lovely photo.
I think Stewart as scribbled on the car number plates so that nobody can complain about seeing there numbers
Mick, it was obvious to me what you think, no doubt Stewart will tell us.
