Canal at Crooke
O for the life of a lonely Duck. Nice, serene.
peace and quiet
Is the Crooke Hall pub any better? Called in a couple of months ago and from the oustide it looked derelict - grass overgrown, rubbish abound, benches rotten and as for kids 'play area'!
Is the nearby Rotal Oak a better stop off?
Very colourful and quiet, lovely. Well done Austin.
nice duck ( with ginger and black bean sause)and full of fish this section .
I`d like to "give the bird" to dirty harry.
"Give somebody the bird" (American & Australian very informal)is
to make a very impolite sign by raising your middle finger towards someone in order to show that you are angry with them.
This finger gesture also has two vulgar meanings, which I put in an earlier
comment, which has not been displayed on P-a-D for obvious reasons. So to see these vulgar meanings you have to look at Wikipedia.
That looks like a coot
Good photo Austin - and a day when there is a bit of character in the sky instead of bland and rainy. Last time I was in the Crook Hall Pub and the Royal Oak they both left a lot to be desired. Both badly in need of a re-vamp.
Ernest when will you ever learn .
All that rain as certainly greened up the trees
agreed Janice
there is not a decent pub on the canal in the Wigan area
nearest is Waters Edge at AP

Rode along there with my son yesterday on our way to Appley Bridge and back. Really enjoyed it.
