Photo-a-Day (Thursday, 5th July, 2012)
Open Air Theatre (1 of 2)
"What`s It All About, Alfie?"
Enlighten us Ron.
It`s mainly a female audience and sparse. Can`t make out what the objects on the grass are - thought at first glance that they were bowls!!
Is the sword at bottom left stuck in the ground?
I know very little of the production. I think the name of the play is The Rivals ,Apologies for the quality, but I was unable to get in ,and had to take it over the gate with the long end of the zoom.
These events are a regular during the summer months in the walled gardens of Haigh Hall.
You can get some good photos of people in costume when caught off guard especially if they are using their mobile.
I was once a member of Wigan Little Theatre. each year they did the set Shakespeare, and the year I did O levels, it was Midsummer Nights Dream. They did it at Haigh Hall, and it was wonderful. I remember it still.
The lady at the right of the picture seems to be wearing funny shoes!
Ron, according to :-

"The Rivals" was at 2pm on Wednesday 27th June and "The Merry Wives of Windsor" was at 7pm later that day.
So you took this photo on Wednesday 27th June in the afternnon?
No wonder the attendance was sparse.
A single ticket was £22.50 and concession £18.!!
Think its a funny(peculiar) picture altogether !
Peerhaps we were not educated enough in "our school days!!"
Like your comment Dave.
