Photo-a-Day (Monday, 11th June, 2012)
Sunset at Wigan Pier
Its a pleasure looking at that tippler on the side of Wigan Pier, I really missed WW last week. Thanks Brian for your efforts, its appreciated.
Simply beautiful! A study in serenity; thanks.
I`m amazed by this photo Mick. Where have all the trees come from?
It`s quite awhile since I was there, in fact it was just before `The Way We Where` closed.
When was this taken?
Are there any photo`s of the original tippler?
That is one of the best photos I have ever seen of the pier. Thanks Mick, I try to explain to friend here in Oz what Wigan Pier is, this will help.
That is a very nice photo Mick. Always difficult to get a sun like that. Nicely done.
I like that Mick - great shot
That's really special! A big thankyou to Mick and to Brian for all his hard work so that we can see these wonderful photos again.
It's already been said I know, but thank you so much for these lovely photos. I did miss this last week.
What a great photo!
There are 61 photo`s of Wigan Pier in Album, Places, Wigan Pier in wiganworld. The last one is of a watercolour submitted by Rev David Long. How`s your retirement doing Rev.David? I`ve missed your photo`s and comments.
Compare photo 14552 on left hand side, 2nd row down on page 3 with Mick`s photo.
There are 3 photo`s 16513 to 16515 on 4th row down on page 3 showing demolition of the original tippler, but can`t see much of it !!
Correction to my last comment - the demolition photo`s are on 3rd row down on page 3.

Ernie it was taken a couple of years ago.
BTW my missis was sat next to a owd man in the doctors this morning who made her smile.
I said did you see his name come up on the screen and she said it was somebody called Ernest Pyke.
Now I know while I cried all the time that I was being christened in Wigan Parish Church in 1928. They were demolishing Wigan Pier !!!
Yes Mick, I saw my lady doctor this morning but I remember a young lady sitting beside me !!
