Great photograph John, brilliant clarity.

Great shot John, much better than the one I took on 27th March`12 in our summer !! Yours was probably taken roundabout the same time as mine.

2 Million on that ???

Comment by: John Morris on 13th April 2012 at 08:47

Spot on Ernest, according to the camera information it was taken at 11 minutes past 12 on the 27th. Oh the wonders of digital, I have hundreds of photographs, taken on film in the sixties, particularly of steam trains, that I would love to have the dates and times of.

This is lovely. Hope Helen sees it....she was hoping someone would post a photo of the bandstand.

Great photograph - I suspect the full-frame camera has something to do with it.

Comment by: Helen on 13th April 2012 at 10:50

I've been waiting for it Irene !
Now that is really something, a very pleasing photo, thank you John.
Do you think someone, somewhere is getting the message? ...spending money on something that has got nothing to do with demolition & the retail trade !!

Comment by: Maggie on 13th April 2012 at 11:20

thought I could hear the curious tone
Of the cornet, clarinet and big trombone
Fiddle, 'cello, big bass drum
Bassoon, flute and euphonium
Far away, as in a trance
I heard the sound of the Floral Dance

The 2 million is to pay for bands to play on Sundays like they once used to do in the Good Old Days. I think the refurbishment was paid for by a lottery grant. I remember as you went through the gates there was an "unattended" canvas bag where people would throw money in.

I think it's a beautiful bandstand and I sincerely hope the vandals and thieves leave it alone.
Harry, you're not even remotely funny, you sound quite pathetic really!

Comment by: Helen on 14th April 2012 at 08:43

Well said Margaret !!

Comment by: Jerry K on 14th April 2012 at 14:28

Harry are you that dirty looking scruff that goes begging round town, if so, go get cleaned up if thats possible, you will need at least 6 boxes of Brillo pads,

Comment by: wcml on 14th April 2012 at 14:46

dirty harry,it will buy you more than a few pints, but i hope the powers that be have used there heads and put another product that looks like lead to make it look like it was origanly, that will upset the tea leafs

Comment by: Bert H on 15th April 2012 at 13:32

Dirty Harry, No wonder you cant hear with all that soil in your ears, Go get 10 baths, that may get some of the muck off, if its caked on you could use an angle grinder,

maggie, quite by chance I was surfing YOU TUBE and came across The Floral Dance,Peter Dawson 1912. I was under the impression that Brass Bands not orchestras played in the park so no cellos. Does anyone know if Lower Ince Temperance or Bickershaw Colliery played there.
