Chips and Steak Pie
Photo: Mick Byrne (Sony HDR)
Delicious photo Mick, I can taste it from 3000 miles away. I cant remember the guy who owns that chippy.
Yuk ! Think of the calories and the saturated and trans-fats. I don't know how any health conscious
person can eat that !
Doesn't that just look delicious! That's my tea sorted for tonight!
It's 7 30am and I'm slaverrin'.Bet Irene Roberts spots this.
OMG... Im slaverrin too, how could you be soo cruel to upload a pic like this to us ex-pats!! ;D
YUH, i'll stick to my salads thankyou very much.
Too much gravy can spoil the teast, a lot of people add garlic on poor food, it hides outdated food.
It would have looked and tasted much better with less gravy and I think I should have had it served with mushy peas.
My chippy tea of choice is fish and chips, but my mouth is watering seeing this!
Oooo soggy chips! but no doubt tasty!
Chippy gravy spoils the taste of anything it's poured over.
Yes; what's Irene, Wigan's very owm Melanie Phillips going to say about this.
Are you suggesting I'm greedy, flaggy?! You know I live on lettuce!
David, I have had to google Melanie Phillips, as I had no idea who she was. I believe she writes for the Daily Mail, and can only assume your comment refers to my recent moans about the changing face of Wigan, namely the glass box and that horrible head in Millgate. Well, I only write for Past Forward, (or at least I used to),the only newspaper I read is The Wigan Observer, and I could just eat steak pie, chips and gravy!
After seeing that photo, that's my tea for tonight!
The chippy in Millgate was far better..... now where is my tin hat ??? !!!!!!!!
Wigan Salad!
a change brids ,hope it was as good as it looks.
English fish and chips much better than all the rest. Can anyone out there tell be what Kabab is???
When ever I ask people they reply "I don't know, I only buy it when I'm P*****".
To Irene, other towns apart from Wigan are changing, its what the powers that be call progress. Bolton, St Helens and Warrington are no different. We have to get on with it.
mmm 3 slices n a crust mop gravy up
Alan, I just don't like being called Wigan's "Melanie Phillips"; I even had to look up who she is. I know it wasn't you who called me that, but the person who did hasn't even bothered to reply. I don't like the changes to ANY of the towns you mention; I may not be able to stop the so-called "Progress", but I am entitled to an opinion, as we all are, and I have no intention of "getting on with it". I object to the changes and have the right to say so, as, fair enough, have the people who agree with them. Wigan, Bolton, Warrington and St. Helens used to have their own individual characters; now,you could be taken blindfolded to any of them, because when the blindfold comes off they all look the same. But then that's progress, isn't it?.....Isn't it?
its just short ov a babies yed at side ov it
Oh yes - I could wolf that down right now!
sweet, probably worth the plane trip over to taste that one
I AM thinking of all the trans fat etc.etc. and would still LOVE to eat this...anytime. Live in USA and MISS this sooooo much. Perfection! MMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Why did I leave Wigan???? I'm going to stick this on my wall to remind me what I miss about Wigan.
Super photo Mick..
my ex-wife worked there during the miners strike the owners name was frank, needs must at the time well done to her,
my god that looks good, reminds me of when i was a driver mid 90's and got the same looking meal in a chippy in oldham.
