Trainers (look up)
Photo: Brian (iPhone 4)
Who was tightrope walking???
Theres a tree in the skate park next to Southport pier in thats covered in trainers.
I wonder what them three people are up to.
is that the pear tree pub on the lhs? those trainers would not be there here in nz someone would now be wearing them.
This is one of the few central areas that escaped demolition and always reminds me of the old Wigan.
When pair of trainers were tied to a telephone wire in our park here in Bath, we were told that that is a sign that that area is for the sole use of a particular drug dealer - marking his "property". They were removed.
No Mike, the Pear Tree is on the right hand side, on the left was an Indian Takeaway when I lived in the area, dont know what it is now.
That building on the left used to be a chippy years ago, if you look closely there is a lintel on the corner this used to be the door into the chippy, it's now a takeaway I think, where the people are on the right used to be where they delivered the barrels of beer into the cellar.
Likewise Maggie, I live in Canada and the same applies to my area where I live. It means drug dealers are there.
Maggie and derek are right, it's a sign of our times, drugs are available there.
An urban myth. Don't you think if this "secret sign" were so widely used and know then it wouldn't be very secret? Maybe the Police would also know what it meant?
well that figures quite a few on Millers Lane Platt Bridge
there is a pair on windermere road higher ince
Whoever named this "Spring gardens" had a sence of humer.I had to walk down there every morning to school, past Santus and the smell of boiling mint balls.Never saw one flower or a blade of grass.
a pair or pairs of trainers as far as i am told is a sighn to druggies of a dealer there ? just looks a mess to me.
I'm afraid I have to agree, here in the Midlands the same "signature" of trainers hanging on wires, indicates an area or place where drug dealing takes place.
