Good picture very modern building but no parking for patients

I suppose that they tried to blend in with the cottages to the right but they failed.Prince Charles would describe it as a Carbuncle and he is correct.

Is Somerfield store NOT there now?

Comment by: Mick on 29th February 2012 at 11:13

At first glance to me it looks like a wooden shed stilts.

Looks like they have cut the corner off because of that BT box ,what a very strange design.Good pic Mick.

With reference to parking, there is more behind this building than the old site in Chruch Street where you had a small parking area across the road and some on road parking between the yellow lines. The building is large, light, airy and has an on site pharmacy. Havn't had to use the facilities myself yet but everyone I,ve spoken to, patient, doctor and employee all say it is a graet improvement on the previous. I think the builders have attempted to blend it in ( if thats possible ) with the cottages to the right and the butchers on the left using similar stone. I have, however heard rummours that the spectre of Tesco's is hanging over the butchers!! Can anyone confirm either way ?

standisher there is no truth in them rumours whatsoever, Tesco aren't rich enough to buy out the Chadwick family as stated by Paul Chadwick last Saturday.

Garry, you are at the wrong location. This is where the former Council Offices was, Somerfield was at the Wheatsheaf traffic lights.now the Co-operative.

Thanks Alan.

Cyril - why would tescos want to buy out chadwicks? Thats ridiculous!!

Their intention (if there is truth in the rumour) would surely to buy off the family to the left or the main chadwick building.

This wouldnt happen anywaynas John Chadwick was refused planning permission to build a car park for the village on this land so they wouldnt allow a tescos there!

only 6 car parking spaces for patients,

Comment by: Standisher on 29th February 2012 at 19:42

I was unaware there was only 6 public parking spaces but the old surgery had none attatched to the building, just space for doctors at the rear, I see what you mean about the BT box and I think that was there as long ago as the old Council Offices,2 buildings ago. Give it a chance, it should be in walking distance for most Standish folks, and it is on a main bus route with stops on either side of the road 50 yards away !!

It looks like it's made of cardboard.

Jonathon, what makes you think that our Council will not allow Tesco to have a store on Chadwicks site? Tesco will be allowed to take over the World. Watch this space.

Not a lot of "oomph" gone into that building then ! how plain can you get ?
