Photo-a-Day (Wednesday, 25th January, 2012)
Mouse
Well spotted and taken Ron. Pity about that bit of dried gras - but that's nature! Nice photo.
Wonderful. Thanks, Ron :o)
Aww, what a little cutey...
Was you lucky there Ron, or did you have to wait a while to capture this wonderful shot. Seeing that it is Burns Night, here's a verse from To A Mouse.
But Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes o' mice an' men
Gang aft agley,
An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain,
For promis'd joy!
Hurray! Back to fur & feather pics! Anyone can point a camera at a building (big :-)), Andrew!) - it just sits there, but it takes skill, patience, perseverance and luck to catch a little critter on the move.
Well said Rev.
I had been sat there for about an hour Cyril taking dare I say birds, when this came along ,maybe it had been watching WW ,and wanted to get in on the discussions
To Rev DL & Mick. I am posting this reply only because I dont expect Andrew will. I think you are being a little unfair to Andrew, anyone can take pictures of buildings maybe, but not take them as good as Andrew has.
Nice mousy pic Ron.
why do we have to endure pictures of wild life 95% of the time on photo of the day? the rodent could of been snapped in liverpool as far as im concerned. if i wanted to look at animals i would go and watch NAT-GEO WILD. get a grip wigan world
You are right Rev. anyone can point a camera at a building, and in fact most people do. But taking a well exposed and composed photograph, rather than a snapshot, needs quite a lot of skill.
I have thoroughly enjoyed Andrew's night-time shots of Wigan and perhaps shots of Wigan are what the site is about, however surely it is also valid to see events and the wildlife of the area. We must leave it up to the integrity of the photographer as to whether it has been taken in the local area. The number of comments and the number of viewings indicates how popular the pictures are.
I think some people are starting to think that Photo of the day is a photo contest showing very good photos of Wigan that look to have been touched up by use of a computer.
And theres nothing wrong with that if thats what you want but dont go over the top in your praises.
A really good photo,thanks Ron.
...To add to the discussion, I can only repeat my comment of January 21st.
Great capture, Ron.
Harry, don't worry about the Rev, he knows me very very well and is just having a bit of a laugh! I know that any pic i put in the public domain is up for comments and I think that's brill-that's how we learn. As for the nature v landscape i believe that both are an essential part of Wigan and i have learned loads about our natural world through this pic a day! As the Rev knows i don't have the gift of patients to sit their waiting for the right moment to come along with a critter.
Well done, Ron, great photo!
Nothing wrong in photo a day becoming a 'contest' All adds to the fun and I really think anything goes, flora, fauna, people, architecture etc etc., including 'tongue in cheek' comments. Good to know what others think, serious or not I really enjoy this page and the banter it provokes. Keep it coming.
When I made the comment about too many birds I didn't think it would start what it did. I love photos a day as I am sure all expats do. You all do a great job and I thank you.
The mouse is as cute as a button. Great photo!
