It's not "Haigh Country Park", a nasty, artifical name dreamt up by Gil Swift, Wigan's first "Director of Leisure". It's the Plantations!

This where all the dog muck comes from when dogs are allowed to walk free and poo where ever they like like those two dogs.

Good photo Ron

Shame on yoy Mick ! Are you another of the PC brigade ? First thing that you think about in a brilliant photo - dog muck ! Get a life. If you want to complain, complain about all those humans who leave litter, beer glasses etc throughout the plantations,as well as those who vandalise the trees, benches and so on. If you go into the plantations these days you will see far more human damage and mess.

Yes Wiganer there is a lot of people who leave litter as well but you dont see to much litter left in the plantations except near to the houses on the Whelley side.

But you do see plenty of dog muck in there, and one of the best places to see dog muck muck in Wigan is at the Three Sisters

It is a good photo Ron.

What I dislike about the plantations are certain cyclists who if you didn't move out of the way would run into you, they think they own the pathways, they spoil it for all the folks who enjoy having a walk in there along with their dogs.

Lovely picture,Ron-With or without dog droppings,as they're called here.... Its actually a fineable offence in my little corner of the world,to leave said droppings behind. We carry little containers of "poo bags" when we walk our dogs!!

PS;I really LOVE the picture; It makes me sooo homesick!

Bob Capped rambler your right on a couple of points some cyclist do spoil it by going to fast and some of them dont even have bells on there bikes to warn others.

And Ive noticed dogs chasing people who are out jogging and even some dogs that are on these long extending leads almost tripping joggers up.

Well said Michael it will always be remembered as the plantations to me ........

Mick you said “Three Sisters is one of the best places to see dog muck in Wigan”, that’s not true. Three Sisters is a popular dog walking area, in fact once you leave the honey pot area near the lake most people you see will have a dog or two. All the regular dog walkers (and there are a hell of a lot of them every day) pick up after their dogs and deposit the waste in a bin or bag. Some not so regular dog walkers pick up then leave the poo bag which is not encouraged and an odd few don’t bother. We patrol the paths several times a week picking up poo bags and also remove visible dog droppings. We also receive many comments regarding how clean Three Sisters is considering how many people and dogs uses it every day. Its people like you with their off the cuff unsubstantiated comments that give the borough a bad name. See the photo on https://www.facebook.com/friendsof3sisters all them dogs and not a bit of dog anywhere near by, and that’s a fact. Sorry Ron, nice photo of a family group with their best friends enjoying a woodland walk.

Mr Honk You seem to be a regular at Three Sisters but I go around Pennington Flash, Orrell Water park, Birkacre Lodge, Worthington Lake and the Canal Bank and still say out of them all Three Sister as more dog muck.
But you say some not so regular dog walkers pick up then leave the poo bag which is not encouraged and an odd few don’t bother. We patrol the paths several times a week picking up poo bags and also remove visible dog droppings, so maybe Im going the day before you and your colleagues have cleaned it all up.
