Photo-a-Day (Wednesday, 28th September, 2011)
Hallgate
I noticed this view off the bus recently as it pulled into the bus-station and thought how colourful and cheerful it looked.
Great photo on a lovely sunny day as well.
The View from The Anvil public house.
I like this, this is more like the Wigan I knew and remember from years ago...
Very nice...that's what we need, lots of colour.
They must have known it was my birthday on that day and that's why the flags were flying.
Smashing photo, Dave.
A couple of points. This is what all of Wigan town centre could have looked like if it had not been demolished by certain powers that be. I know this is a little late, it is moan but also a plug for the Save Wigan Campaign. Join it now and make you voice heard for the future of our Wigan town centre (and beyond). JOIN SAVE WIGAN NOW.!!
Thanks folks
It was the early fifties when we left wigan...I can`t remember where hallgate was but remember the name well can someone put it on the map for me ? Nice photo.
Hallgate is first left as you go down Market street from Market place (Top- o'Wiggin)
Thanks Dave but still cannot recognise it !!!!I put it down to old age !!
It's probably because you're looking at it from the bottom end, Jean. Take a stroll with me on the right-hand pavement under the flags and past the cars to the top of the street, turn right, walk a few yards and we're outside Lowe's Department Store.
Thankyou Irene (that was clever)As soon as you mentioned lowes store I knew where i was .....Sorry Dave!.
Irene ...lovely photo of you and hubby in your 40`s outfits They dont look at all out of date ...in fact better than today`s fashion. Nice talking to you.
I think one of the worst acts of municipal vandalism was destroying the Commercial Yard.
