See windows not painted over, and that was a fire.

It's summer lets look at beautiful places in and around Wigan, use your imagination, who wants to look at slums or fire damaged building.

It used to be lovely here on a Summer's Day, with all the boats alongside on the canal. Such a shame.

Mick - was 'Wilkys Gay Bar'open?

Comment by: BREN on 15th July 2011 at 13:25

I agree with Irene .. spent many happy times sat outside there , very relaxing and a good pit stop when on the bike .... such a shame. BIG BIG MISTAKE turning it into a POSH eating place.. Pub grub and drinks at a reasonable price ... say no more.

Scholes Malc, Wilky's gay bar? Mr Wilks and Amos - you don't mean - a Blue Oyster Bar in't Woolpack, worral t'Hotten Courier make of it, had my suspicions about those two. LOL.

When did that catch fire Mick, presume someone did it deliberately for insurance purposes.

Apparently a lot was spent on it with a top chef. Dont think it did too well? Agree with Bren anyway, should of had cheap good pub grub! Such a shame to see it in this state. A sufferer of the recession and remote location me thinks

A lot of cases done deliberately for insurance purposes ... that's the reason why honest people have to suffer an increase every year !!!

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't been in there for more than 40 yrs but was it a Greenhall Whitley pub for years?

What a shame to see yet another old pub left to go to rack and ruin.
