Is there a logical reason for 'driving' on the right?

I remember the gypsy encampment on the top of the hill in the fifties. They lived in old railway coaches.

Well done pic.

Don't like the look of that mudslide! Nice job though, Stew.

Excellent, this put the old and the new into context with each other. Sometimes when you see an old photo it is hard to visualise exactly where it is as things have changed so much. Thank you for this one Stewart.

Not really its just a rule of the sea if two ships are coming towards each other they pass left to left or port to port in boating terms.

If they didnt have this rule they would be zig zagging and wondering which course they where going choose like people do in supermarkets.

Its the only time that red to red means go (port to port )mmmmm

Thanks Mick, just wondering as us lot "drive on the left". Good explanation

'starboard' is derived from 'steerboard', a foreronner of rudder. You don't really want them passing close to each other. Also you don't want them fouled by the quay, so they 'docked other side to the quay, hence port side.
