Sunset
for a sunset photo, it would be better if the sunset was in focus and not the twig.
P.S to much flash
Well done olly some real criticism at last. Usually critics get roasted on here.
A good atmospheric shot!
It was supposed to look like that Olly, one thing I do avoid is using Photo editing software to correct settings or faults.. This is a website for all levels of experience of photography, I'm sorry if I don't live up to your expectations, I just post these pictures for everyone to view it's not a competition.
Obviously everyone has their own opinion on shots like this and so be it. I like the picture but I would not have used flash. I disagree with Olly in that too many of my sunsets have been spoiled by out of focus objects in the foreground but obviously it would be better if the sunset was in focus. One way is to use a tripod and a small aperture like f22 and focus just beyond the twigs, then everything should be in focus. Of course if it is windy the twig move and are blurred....I think this falls under "Sod's Law"!
its a photo not art work for show in tate modern
Poor old Ian , getting some 'stick' here. Don't worry criticism always seems worse when it's written rather than face to face.
For what it's worth I don't agree with any of the comments.
Yes I think the background would be better in focus, so John is right - but without flash there would be no foreground, it would just be a boring sunset.
So greater depth of field and use flash. I think this photo would be better taken in a couple of weeks time when there is a bit more life on the tree. Or in Winter (frost).
I hate sunsets-should have took it with a bird on yonder twig.
