A male Reed Bunting
Not another bird!!!! Getting like 'Bird Society'!!!!!
I would have called that a Sparrow, because Im not well up on birds.
It is very like a House Sparrow, and its female looks very like a Hedge Sparrow. It is brighter coloured than a sparrow, however.
This is the first year we've seen one in our garden. It appeared about three weeks ago, and I've been surprised that it has stayed around so long.
Strangely, we don't get House Sparrows, or Starlings, in our garden - although I often see them in the district.
Why people have to make derogatory comments, I do not know. The bird photos are beautiful & I enjoy them so much.
Have seen this bird in my garden but didn't know what it was....thanks Rev.
Reed Buntings are a very common bird around rivers and lakes although not what you would class as a typical garden bird. Good photo by the way.
Surely Wigan World covers a broad range of interests and it is obvious from the number of favourable comments that wildlife photographs are popular. Can I suggest that rather than complaining about the photographs you don't appreciate you comment favourably on the ones you do like. Personally I like to see what birds are around the area as well as admiring the picture for what they are.
Well said, Maggie. Rather turning into an 'old moaning gits with too much time on their hands society'
As I have said before... if you can do better let us see it... otherwise
shut up !
Photographed this bird a couple of times in Haigh Hall. Didn't know what it was. Not bad Rev. Needs lightening and increasing in contrast.
I just love photos of birds, Reed buntings are widespread near waters.
Well done Mr Rev.
Calm down Tricia and Maggie, people have the right to comment if they wish.
Mick only said that his knowledge about birds isn't good , and he thought it was a sparrow.
I'll bet that Tricia & Maggie thought it was a sparrow too.
Nice photo though Rev
nephro
Get your facts straight before you pick at Maggie and I..... we said we like the photo. Its the miserable whingers that we object to.
I am just sick to my back teeth of people criticising the photos..
We all like different things .
So there matey ! lol
Nice photo Rev but sorry I have to agree with Chuck, we do get too many photos of birds. Mind you I'm not saying they are not good photos just too many
IF YOU CAN DO ANY BETTER - GET YOUR CAMERA OUT AND LETS SEE IT, OTHERWISE KEEP YER BEAK OUT (gettit....beak......haha
WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING , Sparrow Hawk ?????
TRICIA >> COS I FELT LIKE IT!!!
Oh.. I see ....
