Is there a point to taking pictures like this.

Comment by: Mick on 10th March 2011 at 06:18

Heinz used to dump the same stuff in a hole down Crooke fields and there was another one in the wood on the side of Gathurst lane.

Comment by: Rev David Long on 10th March 2011 at 08:39

It's certainly not a 'Beautiful Britain' Calendar pic, 'betty'! But the first comment from 'Mick' shows there was a point in publishing it, as well as taking it. If Heinz have indeed caused waste to be dumped in the countryside where it is visible like this, they need to be told to clean it up.
Perhaps Brian could start a new feature on WiganWorld - "Grotspots of Wigan". I've a few shots of rubbish-strewn places to contribute. It might move the Council to do something about them - or there's a remote possibility that fly-tippers might stop defacing our streets and fields with their rubbish.

The Rev Long's right, a full bottle of ketchcup thrown away on a bottle dump ?

It always surprises me that our councils can find funds to edify their time in office but have no money when it comes to clearing up eyesores.

Comment by: Hurdy Gurdy on 10th March 2011 at 14:15

Wonder if that tomato sauce is still edible? It must have been in the eighties when Heinz moved to squeezy bottles?

Comment by: John on 10th March 2011 at 20:14

The Rev's in cuckoo land again.

Comment by: H.P. on 10th March 2011 at 22:22

Its nice to see people being able to "ketch up"on topics of conversations that cause some "sausy comments"!

Comment by: Pat van Vliet on 10th March 2011 at 22:55

I think the picture "speaks"!

Comment by: Helen on 11th March 2011 at 08:31

If anyone's in cuckoo land it must be John.....!!

Comment by: Burtspieeater on 11th March 2011 at 08:43

The only way we are ever going to sort out the litter problem is to pick it up ourselves. Stop saying it is the councils problem. Next time you go out in the country tske a bin bag and collect litter. If we all did this, it would soon make a massive difference. Nice photo Stuart.

Comment by: Tricia on 11th March 2011 at 11:54

Roman needs to learn how to write a simple sentence.

Comment by: Burtpieeater on 11th March 2011 at 19:45

Roman, whilst I agree with your sentiments that will only stop things getting worse, to clear the problem we already have, we need everyone to pick up what is already on the ground.

Comment by: roman on 11th March 2011 at 21:31
