Dramatic! Is that Jack-the-Ripper hiding around the corner ?

Comment by: John on 1st March 2011 at 08:37

Horrible, come on, get out in the parks and country-side, where flowers and birds have come to life.

Good quality Matthew, but a sight for sore eyes.

Great picture Matthew, something different for a change.

Come off it Matthew, Mesnes Park's not a stone's throw away from there.

Comment by: Jean F (Wales) on 1st March 2011 at 22:39

Looks like the back door to the public bar.........do people really walk down there .....at night ?

Comment by: Ellen M on 1st March 2011 at 23:03

Whoever said "Modern Wigan has no peer"?????
Still, to be fair, photographically, the shot does have merit.

Comment by: David Fairclough on 2nd March 2011 at 00:00

I agree with Billy, enough of the birds.
Reminds me of working at the UCP in market St back in the 70's

Comment by: Helen on 2nd March 2011 at 08:43

I'm no photographer but I like this
dark, sinister pic, very artistic....I have just looked at Wednesday's pic, the narrow boat & hawthorn berries, this in total contast..it's good.

You certainly created a lot of interest with this one Matthew. Great to see something different. Fed up with things relating to trains and train lines.

Comment by: Margaret on 2nd March 2011 at 10:54

A great picture, variety is the spice of life.

Comment by: Ian on 2nd March 2011 at 12:08

Good one. The parts of Wigan we never get to see are the best shots. We have had enough of birds, fields, and rubbish...

Comment by: Matthew Cooper on 2nd March 2011 at 16:28

John, Mesnes park is fair grotty at times and i wanted to show a part of wigan few see (as some picked up on). Also i think you mean "eye sore" as a sight for sore eyes would contradict your point

Comment by: David Fairclough on 2nd March 2011 at 20:30

The more I look at this photo the more I like it. It would be interesting to see the same photo in colour to see the comparison.
Thanks Metthew

I've really enjoyed the birds and trees, not to mention the flowers, narrow boats and all, however, this has a really gritty, almost "Filme Noir" feel to it---fascinating,and a great picture.

Nice shot like it.
