This is part of town I remember in the fifties but it looks a lot more attractive now.lovely picture.

I don't remember so many timbered buildings.---Are there some recent fake additions, or is my memory really so faulty??!! ...Nice picture though; thanks,John.

Many times in the late fifties early sixties I was "relieved" to use the facilities underground. Are they still toilets to this day.Great photo one of the nicest parts of the town centre. I believe the building in the foreground was the old bus station.

The building on the left was the old Corporation Bus Offices. Alas the old toilets have long gone. I don't know if they are still there, or have been filled in? No one appears to have a definitive answer as to what happened to them. Some people say they got filled in and some people say they just got covered over>

The old toilets were filled in during the paving works in 1997.

Remember the old Corporation bus offices. Spent many an hour 'courting' in the shop doorways there whilst waiting for the last bus to Standish.
