Aspull Common
great shot ron, home sweet home, just get someone to pick that litter up though.
Danny D. The council have blokes removing litter on a regular basis, but it reappears just as fast. Thats life.
nice photo of a nice area it is not how fast that the litter is picked up it is how fast it is put down.
nice photo,but do they need
all those sign posts.
The signs? Yes Brian they do need a lot of signs in Aspull, they are for all the newcomers. Us 'marruhs' know our way around !!
Why do you call people from Aspull, marruh;s .Sounds like sum sort of turnip.Good photo Ron.
The Oxford Dictionary describes marrows or in our case 'marruhs' as a person who has lived in Aspull for at least 25 years and thus earned the right to be greeted by this endearing term.
Margaret,I forget her surname, she was landlady of the QUEENS for many years told me that marrow was a lazy or slang name for moor er. In days not that long ago. Aspullers would greet each other with Morning or evening moor-er. That is the story she told me, and if you didn't want to get bard out of the pub .It was fact.
Good shot Ron. I always thought that it was "marro" short and simple. Like the daily greeting
"nai marro ait doin" Could be wrong....
Ron - was her surname Whitworth?
I realy don't know Phil H.
you guys seriously think this is a good photo of wiagn, its a roundabout!! seriouly some of these pics should not be on here, totally not relavant.
Danny, it's not just a roundabout - it's a work of art :-))
