Health and safety . This man is in serious trouble. No hard hat no scaffold. The statue looks like he maybe an inspector.

No health&safety here.caught red-handed,no wonder building trade as a bad reputation.

Comment by: David on 6th June 2010 at 09:21

Shouldn't he be wearing a safety-harness as well?

Comment by: Bennie on 6th June 2010 at 13:04

He's got his cap on back to front.

Comment by: Margaret Wall on 6th June 2010 at 13:10

MaybeI'm being a bit thick here but I genuinely don't understand why he should be needing scaffolding, a safety harness and a hard hat. He's only a couple of feet in the air, although with one foot on the wheelbarrow and the other on a cone, it is quite possible that he will slip but it's hardly life threatening stuff.

Margaret .Tell health and safety. They have increased the cost of building by 20% to 30%. You pay for that on your mortgage, and probably get injured doing so.

He has took safety precautions, he has wedged the barrow with a stick so it wont keck over

Comment by: Mick P on 6th June 2010 at 17:58

Possibly due to the 'sueing generation' precautions have to be taken.

Most people get hurt falling a few feet, some even get killed.bit ott scaffold but should have had a proper staging to do job not a cone and a wheel barrow and a hard hat to protect his head in case he fell

It's called Americanism.

Comment by: Roy on 11th June 2010 at 10:19

A simple stepladder is all that he needed.

I,m an expat from Australia. If the daft clot had his head on the right way round, all he had to do was dig a hole two feet deep and put the statue in it. Then he could work at a safe level.

Lots of remarks about health & safety which I agree on. But not many on the statue. Have they all been replaced?
Does'nt look like a nice place with the barbed wire on a wall. Cant say much for where it is. Our heritage deserves better.

Don't worry about the safety elfs, with the spending cuts that are comeing we'll be back to kids up chimneys soon
