Its nice to see restoration work being carried out on our canals.
I wonder why there using wooden ones there in most places where the gates have been changed there using steel ones.
Mick, British Waterways where being interviewed on Northwest Tonight a few weeks back at that lock, they said that they were now using traditional methods and materials on restoration work on the canals and locks. Lets hope they soon start to restore the pot-holed towpaths too.
Good photo Ron, when I first glanced at it I thought it was the River Douglas dam they are building.
well done those contractors but they have left the towpath in a terrible mess!!
another stretch of water with no fish and the United Utilities keep
telling us they are stocking up the
Wigan waters with prime young fish.
Pull the other one.!!!!!!
